So you have Canadians in their eternal arrogance and childish negligence of their nation's foreign policy looking down at people who actually know what's going on. I admit that as someone who grew up in the presence of Canadians who would visit Seattle to work and more or less constantly whine about how oppressive, stupid and evil we are I am deeply biased.

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

Dude, Seattle's a hole. The Bellingham Wal*Mart is indicative of this.

CornOnTheCabre - 2008-10-05

HEY THATS BELLIS FAIR NOT BELLINGHAM IT TOTALLY DOESNT COUNT.

plus, show me a Wal-Mart anywhere in America that isnt filled to the brim with disgusting and ill eat my hat.

not a hat bought at Wal-Mart though, i dont feel comfortable with that.

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

"plus, show me a Wal-Mart anywhere in America that isnt filled to the brim with disgusting and ill eat my hat."

Exactly. The same pretty much holds true in Canada, but at least the "Horrible Fat Family on Motor-Scooters to Normal People" ratio isn't like 3-1 in our Wal*Marts.

Probably the saddest thing I've ever seen was a full family on those things, with the mother trying to knock a tub of mayonnaise off the top shelf with a cane.

HankFinch - 2008-10-05

Seattle and Bellingham are not the same city by the way. I might cite such evidence as Seattle is a city named Seattle, and Bellingham is a city named Bellingham.

My only gripe about canadians though, is I work at a financial institute and they are always coming in and asking if we exchange canadian currancy, when I tell them no, but there is a place the next parking lot down, do they go there? About 1 in 10.

baleen - 2008-10-05

Of course Seattle and Bellingham aren't the same fucking city. Jesus. Man, I wish Wal*Mart didn't exist too, sort of like how I wish Vancouver wasn't a city of SCABS. But we can't really change that can we.

HankFinch - 2008-10-05

Just to be fair though, Corn. The Walmart is not part of the Bellis Fair Mall and is a few miles south and is Bellingham.

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

We Canadians all call Bellis Fair and Bellingham "Seattle" because we don't care enough not to.

I've been to Seattle proper, as well, and wasn't too impressed. That, plus Almost Live makes me not like it that much.

baleen - 2008-10-05

YOU ARE COMPLETELY FULFILLING THE PURPOSES OF MY TROLLING AND I LOVE YOU FOR IT

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

CANADA! CANADA!

robotkarateman - 2008-10-05

So some political candidate makes a statement while grandstanding and it's resoundingly poo-pooed by another politician grandstanding.

And I'm supposed to show people this as evidence of what, exactly?

baleen - 2008-10-05

Canada's persistent and fundamental involvement in the Iraq War.

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

What are we supposed to do, go against our largest (and most belligerent) trading partner, especially after a large act of terrorism closer to home than it's ever been before, right across the world's largest undefended border?

baleen - 2008-10-05

Are you implying that we'd invade you or cut ties with you if you didn't coordinate the invasion of Iraq?

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

Well, there was another video on here where Palin was talking and people were chanting "USA! USA!" If that's not a sign of crazy, I don't know what is.

baleen - 2008-10-05

Answer the question, son.

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

Hey I like most of you guys, again, we have a great appreciation for America, the USA. I mean, uh, all of you, any of you, that have been below us all these years. I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too. Canada isn't a foreign country where it's kinda suggested it seems like "Wow, how can you keep in touch with what the rest of the continent may be thinking when you live up there in Canada". Believe me, Canada is like a buddy of America.

baleen - 2008-10-05

And yet, when you suggest that Canada profits greatly from our foreign policy, nay, that it clandestinely ASSISTS us with that foreign policy, Canadians get quite ruffled indeed.

I have always thought of Canada's government to be the nice dad on the block. He treats his children really well, pats them on the bed, tucks them in, but then sneaks out to a strip club where he drink boilermakers all night with China, the US, France and Russia. The US ruffles Canada's hair and says, "Hey that Iraqi whore will give you a BJ for like, five dollars." to which Canada replies, "Canadian or American?"
This makes everyone laugh.
"Does it even matter anymore?" the United States says.

After a long night of debauchery Canada returns home and washes up in the garage basin, wiping off the dust that has settled on its beautiful new car. It's Sunday, and it's time to go to church.

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

No way. Canada's not nearly that exciting.

It's more like the USA is Canada's older brother, and one day it's all like "Come on, Canada! Those horrible foreign kids smashed our snowman last night. A bunch of us are going over to break their stupid crap and maybe take a leak in their snow fort."

To which Canada replies "I don't know, USA, Mom wouldn't like that. You know she says I shouldn't be fighting, and besides, you know I can't run or get too excited because of my athsma."

"Shut up, you pussy," America Replies. "Mom said I needed to watch you today so that means you're coming with us. Besides, if you don't come, I won't let you play my Nintendo."

So then they go and take a leak in the foreign kid's snowfort and break their shovel and fence, but Canada feels really bad about it later because he's sensitive.

It was the worst Christmas ever.

fermun - 2008-10-05

I much preferred baleen's analogy.

baleen - 2008-10-05

Canada feels SO bad that they give their commanders medals of honor for assisting America's dildo into a five year old child's butthole.

You are delusional.

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

Yeah, I don't see what's so bad about this, Orwellian subtext aside.

Keep in mind that the Green Party isn't a real party, too.

HankFinch - 2008-10-05

It's more of a small get-together, you know, just some close friends... that kind of thing

BillFisto - 2008-10-05

They weren't going to invite Tindal, but the old guy started asking the lady when they were getting together and Tindal overheard and was all like "Oh, you guys are getting together?", and they didn't have the heart to try and come up with an excuse to not let him come.

Of course, that didn't stop them from giving him the cold shoulder all night and then mocking him when he left early.

Desidiosus - 2008-10-05

I will give the Greens some credit: for their own policy platform they stole some of the Conservative platform like income splitting, forcing the Conservatives to delay and rewrite. I still don't think it's come out yet.

And baleen, your trolling skills are admirable, but Canadians aren't generally likely to rise to the occasion. We're about to re-elect a Tory government; we're all resigned to our fates and have grown apathetic and lethargic.

robe - 2008-10-05

I don't quite see what this proves.

Canadians don't jump on gaffes quite as quickly as Americans. People understand what Tindal meant by Ministry of Peace, so whether it showed up in a book or not is pretty moot.

Tindal was just speaking about how, under the military exchange program, some Canadian officers may be fighting in Iraq. This is hardly the same as a foreign entanglement or an advocation of the war; While most Canadians are against that clusterfuck, our centrist politicians have no reason to close off the exchange program in protest or anything.

We'll continue looking down on you as a bunch of goosestepping mouthbreathers, cheers.

baleen - 2008-10-05

This video was really just a bait to lure people into reading the first comment. Canada has extensively and quite actively helped us in the Iraq war, and of course is highly involved in NATO's campaign in Afghanistan, but their role in Iraq has waned. The exchange program is minimal compared to the extremely important role they played in the first couple years. Your helping our conquest comes with rewards in the form of contracts. Lots of them. You just don't have to foot any of the blame.

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2008-10-05

It's going to take more than this to keep me from laughing smugly.

Comrade Admiral - 2008-10-05

Also, it appeared that the Honourable Bob Rae was wearing some form of Canadian flag pin on his lapel, whereas Mr. Tindal had none.

I think we can determine a clear winner from this alone.

Desidiosus - 2008-10-05

Yes, but someone like Cena would smugly point out that Bob Rae used to be a SOCIALIST, he brought down a Conservative government in 1980 with his SOCIALISM and he was the first SOCIALIST premier of Ontario.

Everyone else here would suddenly respect Rae that much more for exactly the same reasons.

Urist - 2008-10-05

The exchange program and canadians ending up in Iraq was all over the news up here years ago.

Actually, didn't this end up being a big thing during the Vietnam war as well?

Chancho - 2008-10-05

This video blew my fucking mind.

I mean, who knew that Canada was part of NATO and that Canada participates in NATO missions?

Desidiosus - 2008-10-05

Iraq was a NATO mission? You're thinking of Afghanistan.

Chancho - 2008-10-05

NATO’s assistance to Iraq

While NATO does not have a direct role in the international stabilization force that has been in Iraq since May 2003, the Alliance is helping Iraq provide for its own security by training Iraqi military personnel, supporting the development of the country’s security institutions, and coordinating the delivery of equipment.

The decision to establish a NATO training mission in Iraq was made in 2004 in response to a request of the Iraqi Interim Government.

All NATO member countries are contributing to the training effort either in or outside Iraq, through
financial contributions or donations of equipment.

baleen - 2008-10-06

They did more than that. The NATO excuse is a little weak, since it's saying "We're helping Americans with the War on Terror, not the War on Iraq." So you aided the invasion in Iraq because of the War on Terror... Whatever. You still aided us.

Google Canada and "Operation Apollo."

baleen - 2008-10-06

no not Apollo... gah what was it called. The one that Walt Natynczyk the medal of honor for being second in command of the Iraq War for an entire year...

Anonymous - 2008-10-06

Yes, Canadian generals have led the multi-national corps in Iraq. The multi-national corps is 90%+ American troops. There are zero Canadian troops fighting in Iraq outside of exchange programs.

Canada has officer exchange programs with all of the NATO countries.

There may be Canadians fighting in Iraq as part of the US military to try and get US citizenship faster. There might be some in Blackwater and similar mercenary companies (Blackwater does recruit ex-military in Canada).
