I, too, kinda agree with him. Not for the same reasons he cites, however, and certainly not an everything he said. I do like the idea that if you can learn faster and do better in school, you get rewarded proportionally and that perhaps teenagers should not be so coddled until the age of 18. When I left the nest at the tender age of 16, it felt daunting at first, but I quickly learned and became more capable of taking care of myself and becoming far more responsible very quickly. When I got my shit together and got into college, it was far more of a breeze, although I must admit I suffered in my social scene since I felt like I was surrounded by children. Now that I'm out of college, I immediately got a great job by taking the right steps while folks I know who graduated years before me and are just as capable are back at their folks place or grinding at some horrible job they hate.

Now, I don't think there is anything wrong with spending your teenage years smoking, watching shows and fucking, hell it's how I spent them (and how I still largely spend my time), albeit out of my folks place, so fuck Newt's moral outrage. Also, 13 is ridiculously young. I think 16 is about where it should be, give or take a year on a case by case basis. It'll never happen, though, so fuck it, baywatch reruns are on.

The problem with the boring adolecence is it leaves you in the state you are at jlzrd. You have your goatee (I'm a man) and your baseball cap (I'm a boy) all at the same time. You haven't been able to launch yourself as a functional adult but remain trapped in your Super Nintendo and Red Bull life. This isn't a very conservative idea, since this would be a nationwide agenda, where the federal government is giving money to students for graduating early.

Note that it in no ways guarantees that they'll become successful after they graduate. It just gives them money to graduate earlier. If only there were some studies out there about students who graduated earlier... I wonder if any students who shouldn't try to graduate early would do so for the incentives he's putting out there. Oh, no, probably not. Teenagers are so responsible, after all.

It may not be a horrible idea. There are definitely huge problems with our high school systems. But jesus Enjoy I could juggle what you know about education. So shut up about it.
