Essentially, it's a statement made by someone with no sense of political decorum, tact, or... you know, intellect. The statement was (paraphrased and better worded)"I want to be a political contender, and I'm not leaving national politics if we lose."

Which, duh, but you're just not supposed to say "if we lose."

I just wonder how interesting Bill Ayers will be four years from now.

And I disagree with citrusmiakel. Its a statement made by a person who has been building a structure in Iowa rather than helping McCain. It was made by a person who for every step of her career betrayed the people who had helped her get to the top. It was made by a person naive about policy matters, not political ambition.
