I remember about 10 years ago installing windows 3.1 on a celeron machine with a 500Mhz chip and 32 Megs of ram. It booted in five seconds and every app instantly opened when clicked. MS would have done a lot better if they just debugged and hardened their OS as opposed to rewriting the whole damn thing every five years.
