I think the entire Master arc is about the best science fiction storyline to be on TV since ST:TNG. They really made an AMAZING villain and owe a lot of it to Simm's range.

i think you're a queer

Helena Handbasket - 2008-11-27

I was just watched further footage on bombings in Mumbai. Thank you POE for letting me take my mind off humanity for a bare second.

Also was the Doctor sleeping on straw in his little tent there??

The McK - 2008-11-27

Technically, at this point the Master's murdered a tenth of the Earth's population and forced the survivors to work as his slaves for a year. keeping the Doctor alive so he can see what's become of his favourite species.

That's what happens when the writers who kill hundreds of people in regular episodes get an out like the paradox machine.

Now if you'll excuse me my beard is literally too thick to see the computer.

Xenocide - 2008-11-28

I don't know if it's the best storyline (the arc from this very season where the Doctor becomes a human is better) but The Master was a fucking amazing villain. I was so pissed when they killed him off, because Simm completely owned and redefined the role.

Corman's Inferno - 2008-11-28

It's rumored he'll be back for Season Five.

Genesis - 2008-11-27

tennant coming out of the tent reminded me of some lecherous old man trying to watch the girls in their bikinis at a beach

themilkshark - 2008-11-27

This show is gay.

Camonk - 2008-11-27

It is. But this scene was almost, ALMOST, enough to convince me that maybe I've misjudged it. It looked like fun. Then I remembered oh wait it's still a nance in a magic telephone box and went on my way.

Desidiosus - 2008-11-27

No, the producer is gay. The show is camp.

Corman's Inferno - 2008-11-27

Any series that makes the casting decision to have John Simm as an evil time-traveler deserves massive kudos. This is one of my favorite shows, but I realize people's tolerance varies depending on how much they like the idea of a science fiction Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

IrishWhiskey - 2011-05-31

THANK YOU Corman. I'd been looking for a way to describe the show to skeptics for a while and while "the science-fiction version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer" isn't necessarily persuasive, it is fairly accurate.

The McK - 2008-11-27

Between this and Voodoo Child, this apocalypse had the best soundtrack.

Bruce182 - 2008-11-27

Doctor Who is the shizz. I used to hate this show, but I have seen the light.

StanleyPain - 2008-11-27

Remember when The Master was actually kind of menacing?

cognitivedissonance - 2008-11-27

They had to trade it off since the Tenth Doctor is a rage-o-holic. He may seem all sweetness and light but he's an enormous fan of genocide.

The McK - 2008-11-27

He's always been like that, but fortunately he's not very good at it (see "absolute annihilation of all Daleks everywhere forever so nyah"). Also this:

ProfessorChaos - 2008-11-28

I like to think of the master as the Anti-Doctor - his every incarnation a sort of dark antithesis to the doctor's present incarnation. Pertwee's master was vaudevillian as Pertwee, etc.

Tennant was poppy, and gleeful, with a dark undertone. Simm was Dark, with a poppy and Gleeful undertone.

Xenocide - 2008-11-28

I remember when they tried way too hard to make him seem menacing and ended up with an overused generic goatee-stroking baddie.

This Master is the most menacing ever, because not only does he slaughter more people in an afternoon than the previous ones did in their entire careers, he has SO MUCH FUN doing it.

Shion - 2008-11-28

Wow.

Um, is there something wrong with me that I now realize I find the nerdy suit-wearing insane genocidal maniac actually quite hot? That and I can't stop listening to this song.

ProfessorChaos - 2008-11-29

The Scissor Sisters - off of their Album "Ta-Dah" For those who are curious.

And no, the rest of the album isn't this entertaining. The rest of the songs channel the Beegees more then campy villany.
