Nick Cage appears in 4 great films: Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation, and this. His horrible hit/miss ratio comes down to his agent feeding him terrible scripts.

Director Andrew Niccol (Gattica, and writer of The Truman Show) will have a Dali biography out in 2009: I expect a treat.

Terminal Button - 2008-12-02

subtract this movie from the list and replace it with Wild at Heart and I agree.

This movie is just more of the same from Lions Gate.

Also, this intro is cheesy/dull.

Man Who Fights Like Woman - 2008-12-03

You forgot The Rock.

wtf japan - 2008-12-03

You forgot the bees. OH GOD, NOT THE BEES!

Camonk - 2008-12-03

Calling this a "great" move is, I think, overstating things a bit. And Cage was hardly great in it.

But The Rock was a kickass movie! CARLA WAS THE PROM QUEEN

YEAH

SHIT YEAH

THAT'S A MOVIE I CAN GET BEHIND!

godot - 2008-12-03

Yeah, "great" is overstating things. I'll readily admit that my overappraisal is due to this film conveying the evil of the small arms-trade profiteers, which is was a grand idea, and one which isn't well represented in film. I wouldn't know any way of improving the film for its impact on Mall America.

Also, Wild at Heart is good. Not great. Nicolas Cage bears no small resonsibility for it being the least of Lynch's feature films. He certainly hasn't been invited back into the fold.

Questions:
- What kind of ammunition is dumped loose into boxes and packaged? (I mean, would it have killed the flow of the scene to show the bullets being stacked into rows for packaging? Even a cheap ammunition manufacturer would stack for shipping because loose ammunition is far from optimally packed, meaning your packaging costs are increased.)
- Who dumps their ammunition directly onto the dusty ground before loading it? Especially when you already have it loose in a box?

Damn liberal Hollywood types obviously have never actually fired (let alone cleaned) a gun.

Jefka - 2008-12-02

It's not the greatest of ideas, but dusty ammo isn't too much of a problem for an AK-47.

The loose-shipped ammo doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either, but I've never worked in a Russian bullet factory.

Urist - 2008-12-02

.223? You're just trolling for gun fags aren't you.

AdamOfEden - 2008-12-02

i'd been playing a lot of fallout 2, actually.

Ursa_minor - 2008-12-03

more like 7.62x39 - AKs don't shoot .223

1394 - 2008-12-12

There are plenty of Ak's in .223, namely many Romanian, Russian, and Chinese ones.

***comment deleted due to gun faggery, political commentary, and way too much rambling bullshit***

I like this movie.

Michael Houser - 2008-12-03

You forgot 'Vampire's Kiss'. Psychotic Nicholas Cage at his best.
