I'll hold back stars for a moment. At least until why someone can explain to me how in God's name this video is supposed to be interesting and/or entertaining.

fatatty - 2008-12-03

I won't.

poopskin - 2008-12-03

it's interesting in that it exists for some reason. It's entertaining because

The joke is almost all the biggest games of this era supported the MT-32, but nobody had one.

Mike Tyson?! - 2008-12-03

I have never actually seen one of these before and it sounds cool. Die in a fire.

citrusmirakel - 2008-12-03

Ah. Thanks for enlightening me.

Stupid Lisa Garbage Face - 2008-12-03

It is an ultimate geek video. I'm 5-starring it because I had a CM-32L. I saved up so long to get it. (same thing as the MT-32). My vote is based on nostalgia because I think I threw it out a year or so ago.. and.. dear god what have I done?!??!

Syd Midnight - 2008-12-03

It's the bleepity-bloop music from some ancient game, played over a kickass expensive MIDI rack which they always supported for some reason. http://www.knickknack.ch/radiomt32/

Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2008-12-03

Yeah, I'm geeking out myself. I remember reading documentation for the 7th Guest and old Sierra games that basically said The MT-32 rocked so hard it could start a serial-killing cult.

Hearing it for the first time, I'm inclined to agree.

pastorofmuppets - 2008-12-04

My understanding is that this little guy represents the old guard of computer-synthesized game music, which ended up giving way to wavetable-based General MIDI cards.

The game musicians wouldn't just say "oh, make it a flute sound", they would program the synth, as you would with a Nintendo or a C64, except this is much more advanced and worked with a PC.

I wonder if anyone's ever hooked up a game with MIDI support to a Disklavier...

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-12-03

Well I always wanted them back in my childhood PC gaming days but they were fucking expensive. So all I got was a SoundBlaster instead.

dancingshadow - 2008-12-03

Soundblaster came with Dr. Sbaitso... the text to speach thereapist who would help you but if you talked to it long enough it would start saying "Let's talk about sexy stuffs" over and over. It also sounds exactly like Stephen Hawking.

Space Quest IV is the best of all the Quest games cause you go back to Space Quest 1 and fight the Monochrome Boys, who are jelous of your fancy EGA colors.

Randroid - 2008-12-03

DOKTER.... SBAAAEEETZOH.

Also, the soundtrack still sounds terrible.

FABIO - 2009-07-07

Space Quest 5 was the best for having no moon logic puzzles that screwed you over hours before you found out you were screwed over.

boner - 2008-12-03

These things were so elusive, I don't even think I saw a picture of it.

Repomancer - 2008-12-03

Don't mean to be a big shot or anything, but I have an MT-32.

A cooler video would perhaps be Doom on an SC-55.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-12-03

Get on it, son.

Baron_Von_Bad_Beaver - 2010-11-06

SC-55
