so a band of colossal douchebags ripped off another colossal douchbag... wow... fascinating

Innocent Bystander - 2008-12-08

yeah, liking Joe fucking Satriani is way cooler than liking Coldplay.

Baby Finster - 2008-12-08

Incidentally, I think that's his actual middle name.

DMKA - 2008-12-08

Umm...that's not plagiarism. I hear a little bit a similarity but nothing terribly alike.

But even if it was a complete ripoff I'd still love Viva La Vida.

Dib - 2008-12-08

That fragment is, I'd have to hear the full songs to tell. I'm skeptical anyway, Coldplay have made several hit albums and I don't think they need to resort to outright ripping off anybody to make another.

Speaking of similarities, anybody ever listen to the X-Men cartoon theme next to Metallica's Fade to Black?

Camonk - 2008-12-08

You like Coldplay? Every opinion you've ever had has just been completely invalidated.

God Coldplay sucks. Even when I'm expecting to hear them, I reflexively take off stars.

Dib - 2008-12-09

What did I say about liking Coldplay? I acknowledged the fact that their albums sell.

baleen - 2008-12-08

I voted this in because it's two worlds of music that I despise despising each other in a despicable despicapiscpia

waxeater - 2008-12-08

This is bullshit because nobody listens to Joe Satriani.

futurebot - 2008-12-08

He looks like the guy on the Bowflex commercial

Chizmurder - 2008-12-08

All these stars go for the tag "faggle rock" which needs friends.

fatatty - 2008-12-08

Hey I'm not advocating either of these bands. I just thought it was interesting when the two songs were played over each other.

I also like that we can now officially call Coldplay the Carlos Mencia of rock. The group that's popular, though no one knows why and who steals other people's material and still sucks.

And it let me use the tag Faggle Rock.

pastorofmuppets - 2008-12-08

I think it's the same deal with Mencia, actually...the problem is not that he rips off material from others, it's that his material is so lame that every other morning show DJ comes up with the same stuff.

Satriani has technical prowess, but he'd be better off spending that legal team cash on equipment to improve his crappy tone.

wtf japan - 2008-12-08

We recently had a Coldplay concert downtown. Blandest bunch of white people you ever saw. Man, I hope someone's Jetta got stolen.

baleen - 2008-12-08

coldplay fans would drive jettas, wouldn't they?

Spastic Avenger - 2008-12-08

I take it none of you have noticed the blatant rip off by DragonForce in 'through the fire and flames' of Garth Brook's classic 'the thunder rolls'?

pastorofmuppets - 2008-12-09

I'm not hearing a huge similarity. Was I DragonForceRoll'd?

fluffy - 2008-12-08

Oh no they both use a IV V I VI chord progression!

Goethe and ernie - 2008-12-08

Coldplay should be sued for being really really shit.

TeenerTot - 2008-12-08

All the chord phrases that will ever exist have been played.
The million monkeys in the room next to the ones writing shakespeare have put down their pens and burned all the staff paper.
