Its not the ropes, its not the nudity, its the (seemingly) genuine smile.
Its a fine look, but not everyone has the face to pull it off. Someday I need to investigate modern burlesque: a) it really isn't developed in my town b) it was too easy to write it off as attention seeking when I was younger, and c) I'd look awful in a corset.
I don't picture Betty Page with trashy tattoos and a beer gut.
It's that the smile reaches her eyes. You can look her right in the eyes and you don't see shame or the dead emptiness of a world weary stripper, just life.
I was probably 14 when I first saw a pinup photo of Betty and I'll always remember that moment. Not because she was the kind of girl that made you think about sex, but because she was the kind of girl that made you think about love. Let me tell you, it takes alot to make a 14 year old boy look past tits and into eyes and that's exactly what I did.
It's funny how the passing of someone you never met can make you feel so strongly.
I just realized I spelled her name "Betty". In my defense it's nearly 3:30am and I typed in the wrong URL 4 times coming back to check if I had misspelled her name.
A nice article about her is here
I'm glad her family didn't keep her on life support for too long.

I will never forget the first time I set eyes on a genuine picture of Page (not a painting), nor the first time I saw one of her reels (I think it was Striporama which I think is where this is from). It's sad to see her go, but I guess she had a good run of it.
On a side note, Dave Stevens (who also recently passed) isn't getting anywhere near enough credit for what he tried to do for her.

Page has more style that over 3200 stick figure clone models combined.

I'd still do her.

now who will shitty rockabilly and goth girls look to for fashion and hair advice?
(a very pretty lady has died.)
I would imagine they'll still continue to rip off her off, considering they've been doing it for about fifty years now despite her never changing or updating her style.
P.S. - Goth girls couldn't give two shits about Page. Get it right or pay the price.
It's Yvonne De Carlo for the wannabe goth girls, Maila Nurmi for the deathrock chicks. Nurmi died this year as well, bad year for 50's hotties.

She seems nice but I still never really got the appeal.
Also really annoying people love her.
I never got the Monroe appeal. Betty at least seemed like she was having fun. Monroe was an attention whore through and through.

i don't think it was physically possible for her her to take a bad picture.

I'm no porn fan and until this moment I've never seen more than pictures of Betty on the web. But I did read a recent interview with her. She said back when she was young she had fun being outside and naked and having her picture taken. She enthusiastically told the interviewer she was taking her vitamins and getting exercise and was going to live to 100 yeas old! She went on and on about that. But like so many things I guess it didn't work out.
I've only seen one recent picture of her as a little old lady standing less than shoulder height to Hugh Hefner. She didn't let people take pictures of her because she wanted to be remembered as young and pretty, the way she was in this video.
So many people have died in obscurity but Betty had discovered how interested people were in her. She died but she died knowing she was a star and more popular than at any other time in her life. I once asked a young woman friend if she wanted to be Marilyn Monroe. She told me, "I'd rather be Betty Page!"
Kind of a shame, she looked good right up 'til the end, just with grey hair... a real GMILF.
