Youtube already died when it became overrun with shitty "tribute" music videos.

DMKA - 2009-01-11

That would imply that it was never alive to begin with.

I'm leaning towards a "so-what" stance. It's not like this is the first internet Jesus app to go commercial and disappoint all the frustrated unwashed who hoped it would elevate them into a mythical new land where their entirely speculative talent was rewarded with enough cash to keep them in twinkies for another month. Thunderfoot - I stress, Thunderfoot - is alarmed that no one might get to see his videos. He should count his blessings that it got this far at all. That anyone without more than a casual interest in internet video subculture ever heard anything anyone of the likes of Thunderfoot, or indeed any of us, ever said was a historical anomaly squealing on the ground next to its own freakish afterbirth, waiting for death to get off its ass and pronounce it stillborn. In a couple of years the excess capacity of bandwidth gifted by the Bubble will be exhausted and internet video - the primary gobbler - will need to simultaneously contract and start making money to justify any future expansion. If you're just too boring to get paid to talk, it's not called censorship. It's called being an average person.

This is amazingly alarmist for a person like Thunderfoot.

Isn't this the guy that went back and forth with Demonius X? Based on that alone I'd figure the guy to be a huge drama whore.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-01-12

I think you mean VenomFangX. I always get those X's mixed up too.

StanleyPain - 2009-01-12

He did, but he's also one of the more intelligent of the pro-atheist crowd on YouTube. He was also responsible for getting VenomFang nearly kicked off YT for his ridiculous DMCA claims on any video criticizing him. Unfortunately it didn't work, but anyway...it just seems like a weird freak-out for someone like this to have.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-01-12

Yeah venomfangx, whoopsie.

I have to say I did have great respect for how TF made that kid read a protracted apology, and then do it again because it wasn't convincing enough. If only all DMCA abusers could be subject to that.

But the video above is garbage and nonsense. And so we see that the best way to win at youtube is to not play the game.

Hey douchebag, go lease a server, learn some PHP or Ruby, and write your own YouTube. They didn't invent video hosting, so they don't own it.
