-1 for lack of gameplay footage, be it real or fake. But still really well done.

BillFisto - 2009-01-15

-1 because the NES couldn't actually do that.

afp3683 - 2009-01-15

Looks a lot like the Batman Returns game.

endlesschris - 2009-01-15

The font used is from the SNES era. This definitely capable of running on the SNES but NES doesn't have the power (or color palette) for it.

themilkshark - 2009-01-15

A really cool way of proclaiming The Dark Knight a true modern classic, by paying homage with a classic video game system. I really, really hope this becomes a playable ROM.

Foolish Motorcycle Accident - 2009-01-15

DURR -1 NO WAY YOU COULD DO THAT ON THE NES MAYBE THE SNES OR NEO GEO DURR HURR

Fucking nerds

hornung - 2009-01-15

i'm going to go even huger nerd and state that i'm pretty sure that DC did not TM their character names, something to do with their way of getting rid of creator control after the siegel and shuster stuff. Marvel does that though.

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-01-15

DURR THEY NO SUMTHING I DONT SO THERE STUPID N IM NOT!

Fecund - 2009-01-15

I don't think they even make 8-bit nintendo games anymore! I think this might be a fake.

Xenocide - 2009-01-15

Plus, Sunsoft isn't even in business anymore! -80 STARS.

Dr. Venkman - 2009-01-15

-1000 stars for no FMV's, so fucking cheap...

Dr. Venkman - 2009-01-15

juuuuust kidding! infinite love for this, fuck the semantics of snes this and nes that.

poopskin - 2009-01-15

why didn't they make this game for the xbox 360 instead? Graphics would've been way better

RJ45 - 2009-01-15

If you're going to make a video catering solely to nerds, it's best not to confuse the NES and SNES.

16-bit joker face was neat, though.

strangewink - 2009-01-15

Its a reworking of the Sunsoft Batman game's ROM. Its very clever, but nothing to argue over. You can do things like this with a NES or SNES ROM editor.

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-01-15

What do I need to edit your mom?

strangewink - 2009-01-17

firstly a dick

theSnake - 2009-01-15

This has to be at least 16 bit.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-01-17

It's not anything-bit, just an animation.

The author claims that he stayed within the restrictions (by cleverly layering sprites) but I doubt that he took into account the RAM limitation of an 8-bit system. NES games had mostly tile-based graphics for a reason. There may also be a size limit on the sprites, I'm not sure.

On the other hand, part of the limitations on the old games were ROM space, the coding tools, and the financial reality of shipping a game. There are NES scene demos that are very impressive and so maybe this could be coded for real, but maybe not. It's not enough to just compare to the actual games since what was feasible is different than what is possible.

Nerdy enough? :)
