It feels good to be a human these days.

Hay Belly - 2009-01-17

What does that mean, people never rescued people before? Or is it a comment on the increasing availability of accidents on video? Or do you have a thing for the Coast Guard.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-01-17

0 casualty accident + Obama + Cardcaptor Sakura = General improvement of mood.

fatatty - 2009-01-17

I would have thought Card Captor Sakura alone would be enough.

5 Stars for good news.

rustedmutt - 2009-01-17

In the event of a water landing... hope that your pilot is a shred as good as this guy.

allcaps - 2009-01-17

I like the bit where they pass that other airplane in the background. That plane is like, FUCK.

Cap'n Profan!ty - 2009-01-17

what the hell kind of plane is that? it looks like a mini-concorde.

lustygoat - 2009-01-17

isn't the Intrepid air museum near where the crash was? that might actually be a real Concorde.

MrBuddy - 2009-01-17

Save yourself some time, skip forward to the 2 minute mark, ignore the car and watch the left edge of the screen in the middle.

Syd Midnight - 2009-01-17

Let it buffer and watch it in fast-forward. It looks like the plane is cruising around in the river.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-01-18

At five minutes you can see the mighty Hudson flowing a big piece of previously-airborne titanium downstream.

jangbones - 2009-01-17

I am debating sending this to my co-worker who was on this flight.

Right now, I'm leaning towards no.

Diogenes - 2009-01-17

Airplanes float. Good to know.

StanleyPain - 2009-01-17

To get them to float, though, takes a massively skilled pilot to do one of the hardest types of landings ever (landing on water). This guy has balls, balls, balls, balls of steel.

lolcoolj - 2009-01-17

I bet the out of towners took a bus home huh guys.

DMKA - 2009-01-17

Well, he'll never have trouble with finding employment from here on out. No matter how bad the economy gets.

Zoot42 - 2009-01-17

Hey this isn't it I don't think, are those the twin towers in the background?

kennydra - 2009-01-17

Are you joking?

Also, this video is boring.

libby1217 - 2009-01-19

that's just shitty

Gojira1000 - 2009-01-17

Boeing now officially loses my affection. That Airbus has phenomenal engineering.

Also the pilot is pretty fucking good - do you get a Sully with each plane?

kingarthur - 2009-01-17

5 stars for Sully Sullenberger. Because his name is awesome. Oh, and he's a good pilot too.

sosage - 2009-01-17

I over heard a co-worker saying, "He crashed a plane in the river and they're calling him a hero!?!? PFFFFT I mean. Think about it. He crashed a plane and he gets called a hero. I wish I was called a hero every time I fucked up."

I think he forgot he was not trolling the internet...I kind of hope he crashes into a river...

libby1217 - 2009-01-19

they did all the right things...this could've been very well a disaster but instead everyone survived...because they did all the right things...nice to hear something wonderful for a change...
