I have a horrible feeling BG3 is going to be to the Baldur's Gate series what Fallout 3 was to the Fallout series.

I still play through a fully modded out BG2 once every six months.

After desperately trying to enjoy Neverwinter Nights 2, I could sure do with breaking out Baldur's Gate and going through it again.

just to mention it, since you brough up fallout, I was a huge fan of the first two since they came out. I followed the progress and death of Van Buren and bit my teeth over Bethesda possibly fucking it up. I even used to visit No Mutants Allowed for awhile. I was one of those Fallout assholes.

When Fallout 3 hit, I loved every second of it (save the ending). While it's not the same ol' fallout, it was fan-fucking-tastic, giving me flashes of the first time I played Deus Ex throughout the whole game.

So, that said, I have hope for a Buldur's Gate 3. Although, I still have my worries. It's a hard sell to get a company to make a game as detailed as Baldur's Gate or Fallout anymore when they are forced to release for a minimum of three systems with shorter deadlines than they had back in the day and under crazy pressure from tyrannical publishers who believe in volume marketing over product quality constantly threatening to give your funding away to some generic Halo clone or movie licensed game.

I really enjoyed Fallout 3 too for what it was. It just didn't feel like a Fallout game to me, more like an imporved and reskined Oblivion. Hopefully a few more months of modding and it'll become as much of an old favourite as the first two games.
