holy crap! why have i never heard of this?

fatatty - 2009-01-26

Living in a cave? Living under a rock? Living on Mars? Not big enough of a nerd?

Hodge - 2009-01-26

Because you were occupied with that overhyped Maximum Carnage game?

+1 for excellent use of the underrated tag.

fatatty - 2009-01-26

Hey, Maximum Carnage was sweet. I didn't even know it was hyped. Comix Zone was better in every way, but web swinging as Venom and beating up guys was pretty gun.

Godard's Drinking Problem - 2009-01-26

Totally backing you up on that. Comix Zone was a innovative game, but maximum carnage was the fucking shit

Emcee - 2009-01-26

This is actually being released on a giant, collection for the PS3/360 with like 40 other Genesis titles in the next few weeks.

badideasinaction - 2009-01-26

It's a fun game, but gameplay-wise is was an above-average brawler. It was also very difficult even by the standards of the time. One life, an energy meter that that drains when breaking objects, and insta-death pits = you're going to learn to play the first level with your eyes closed, or just get bored.

Still, stylistically innovative. Refraining from rating this though.

giygusattack - 2009-01-26

This game was pretty hard, but I found it much less frustrating than most of the other beat em ups the Genesis had to offer.

Also 13 year old me thought the cd packaged with the game was the greatest thing ever to happen to music.

Godard's Drinking Problem - 2009-01-26

The biggest bullshit was at the end, where (after fighting for what seemed like an infinite eternity), you had to pull of this impossible sequence-busting while the boss attacked you, and even if you killed him, if you didn't hit every part of the sequence you would still "lose"

spikestoyiu - 2009-01-26

Loved loved loved this game.

Infamous - 2009-01-26

The pre-cursor to Viewtiful Joe, one of the greatest 2D beat 'em ups of all time.

takewithfood - 2009-01-26

Henshin-a-go-go, baby!

wtf japan - 2009-01-26

This game kicked my ass, and I loved every second of it!

Xenocide - 2009-01-26

More personality than nearly any other Genesis game. And hard as hell, too. Great stuff.

voodoo_pork - 2009-01-26

This game rapes your thumbs.

ponpoko - 2009-01-26

This game was one of the most 90's things ever. DYKE CUTS GRUNGE MUSIC CREATOR-OWNED COMIC BOOKS!

Godard's Drinking Problem - 2009-01-26

The main character is modeled after Rob Liefeld

oogaBooga - 2009-01-26

I fucking loved the sega channel. This is reason number 7.

spikestoyiu - 2009-01-26

Sega Channel updates were like Christmas 12 times a year.

Godard's Drinking Problem - 2009-01-26

All those replies, and I almost forgot to give this five stars

RomancingTrain - 2009-01-26

Why does the character have to look like such a douche though?

eatenmyeyes - 2009-01-26

See Godard's reply to ponpoko.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-01-26

You guys are just trying to act tough by saying this game wasn't brutal.

Another awesome "late-period" Genesis game was CV: Bloodlines.

klingerbgoode - 2009-01-27

this game sucked.

Goethe and ernie - 2009-04-08

Amazing game, I actually have it downstairs and will go and play it RIGHT NOW (after posting this of course). I bet I'm not as good at it as I was when I was 8/9, just like every other Megadrive title I've returned to.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-01-22

Amazing game. I tried it over and over but with 0 Continues, it was SO frustrating.
