RockBolt - 2009-01-26

WELL I MADE MY POINT

Lindner - 2009-01-26

People can make two statements in one paragraph!

Rudy - 2009-01-26

It's a paradox! Only the Lord can create paradoxes!

ProfessorChaos - 2009-01-26

Huh. I was expecting the caller to quote a collapsing mine. I was wondering what sort of thing a collapsing mine would say.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-01-26

I want to beat them all.

Steve Airport - 2009-01-26

at Scrabble?

Frank Rizzo - 2009-01-26

collapsing mines?

Cap'n Profan!ty - 2009-01-26

with your penis?

engrish muffin - 2009-01-26

I would subtract one whole star on hat-related grounds, but the content is just too brilliant.

Mike Tyson?! - 2009-01-26

That episode was about silly gaps in reasoning or something. He usually doesn't wear a hat.

GlennFinito - 2009-01-26

QuOwned!

Syd Midnight - 2009-01-26

I'd rather have heard Not Yahtzee explain it, but it is a live smackdown.

Camonk - 2009-01-26

Objectivists make mistakes in their reasoning? Say it ain't so!

fatatty - 2009-01-26

He has no idea what the rest of that quote even means at all. And he never will. Because God doesn't use big words and fancy talk. It's much easier to go through life yelling "I'M NOT A MONKEY!! YOUR SCIENCE SCARES AND CONFUSES ME!!"

big pincers - 2009-01-26

alternate ending: the caller realized the debate skills he learned from How To Make Converts And Influence Textbook Committees were intrinsically shallow and deceptive. he wept furiously then blew his brains out.

alternate ending 2: he became liberated and engaged in a big gay orgy

IrishWhiskey - 2009-04-01

I swear, in one of their videos someone uses that exact argument. After demonstrating a complete lack of knowledge as to the meanings of "evolution," "scientific theory" or even the most basic concepts, they end up relying on "Man is not the same as a monkey. You have to agree with that. So evolution is wrong!"

baleen - 2009-01-26

I have a quote from Darwin that should throw the Darwinists off their rockers:

"... God [is] ... man's ... [only] hope. All of creation [can be attributed to] ... God."

Take that, DAWKINS.

IrishWhiskey - 2009-01-26

When he started trying to suggest that Darwin was contradicting himself, what did he think was going to happen? They just read the quote, they know he wasn't doing any such thing.

Maybe he was just hoping one of them would respond with "STFU noob, go bck to chuchr and kill urself", so he could claim a moral victory, like the rest of his internet arguments.

Tstyle - 2009-01-26

I hate it when I agree with a guy wearing a jester's cap.

Midnight Man - 2009-01-26

I can't fucking stand how smug and condescending these guys are no matter who they're arguing with or how much I agree with them

IrishWhiskey - 2009-01-26

I actually thought they did a good job, despite how extremely tempting it must have been to belittle and talk down to the caller.

halon - 2009-01-26

Do you play any good movies with all that projecting?

pastorofmuppets - 2009-01-26

The caller began with ad hominems, and rather than play the game they just showed him where he was wrong. You can see them actually trying not to smile.

After the call they summarize the argument in clear and, what I felt were sympathetic terms. The hyper-religious, creationists in particular, are used to accepting arguments based on their source. They are not bad people, but accept arguments from authority. So be it.

In their mind it makes sense to call someone a Darwinist. It's not always meant to be an insult. They are under the assumption that other people are like them (-"ists"), just on the other side of the fence.

When in reality there is no fence, just the evidence, and it supports certain conclusions but not others. Evolution is not an attack on Christianity, but a small group of Christians believe that it is and so they will always refuse to look at the evidence and the arguments any further than what is required to misapply quotes from famous scientists.

In fact I was glad he said the Einsteinian bit because it's the shortest possible way (one word) to show why calling someone a Darwinist doesn't have anything to do with evolution.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-01-26

Damn I wrote way too much

pastorofmuppets - 2009-01-27

Ugh. I left something out too...these guys are in fact pretty smug, just not in this episode :)

charmlessman - 2009-01-26

I love these guys. I've been watching their videos for about a year now, and it never fails to impress.

Silly hat aside.

Ponasty - 2009-09-04

"well i made my point anyway" caller is confused.
-1 for the asshat
