they are satirizing all youth oriented programming ever made in the last 10 years
10 Years? It's 2009, this is going back to at least 1993. That is even more depressing.
the "bras doin' hella tight shit" style of programming didn't totally permeate MTV until the success of Jackass in the early 2000s.
In an interview with the Onion, they said they wrote this episode after watching about a week's worth of programming on MTV and Fuse.
They're also satirizing themselves, with the "I'm a weird guy with a puppet!" viral video and the "Egg Zackly" production card. It's pretty adorable.
