Perhaps you got the lyrics wrong because you got the song confused with its doppelganger (on the same album!), "Man In a Suitcase"?
I doubt it. Years of listening to it on iffy stock car radios had me convinced that the refrain was something about "marrying a poor man". Yeah, I know.
I think 1980 was the last time Sting didn't come across as an arrogant, self-centered prick.
