Science has long spoken of the coming of the cyber-babes, and lo they are upon us. It is today and not the 1st of Jan. 2001, that is the beginning of the new millenium.
If this is the model I'm thinking of it's even cooler than you think. If you noticed, the first tester had an artificial shoulder, and the last tester had a bit of their upper arm left; the arm is designed to be broken down to replace as mush of the arm as you may have lost. I think it's incredible that they've managed to design a modular prototype, not just talked about it.
Also, I believe this is brainchild of the same guy that built the Segway scooter.
The team who is producing this is making it specifically for military rehabilitation. That being, vets who have lost limbs.
Now they have stated quite clearly that they are not going to do anything they deem 'crazy' with this arm, like amp it up to 500% human strength or anything like that.
However, it should be noted that they are not going to be the last set of technical hands to tinker with this arm before it is implemented. So I'm still holding out hope/horror of seeing someone bench press a truck.
