Almost as batshit as the ad from two years ago that claimed that because CO2 occured naturally, we should actually burn more fossil fuels to pump more CO2 into the air for make it healthier.

Johnny Roastbeef - 2009-02-18

I had to get your tag linked here.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-02-17

This ad paid for by mostly oil companies, energy companies, the mining industry, the auto industry and just about anyone that has anything to do with a smokestack.

Who are, by the way, all run bazillionaires and think you, the voting public, are dumb enough to fall for this.

Valkor - 2009-02-17

If all of those industries gave money to this group they would probably have an operating budget of more than ~5 mil/year.

But keep on raging against invisible foes.

IrishWhiskey - 2009-04-09

Valkor, that's just sloppy reasoning.

I don't know for sure for sure who's funding them because they keep it secret, although one of the group's primary donors is Koch Industries, the nation's largest privately held energy company. And they have a great many donors that are themselves business lobbying groups, that do receive money from auto, coal, oil, etc.. It is a simple fact that all of those industries have lobbying and charity groups set up that spread donations to third party advocacy groups like "Americans for Prosperity".

The fact that donations come from many these industries, obviously does not mean every single company donated to this particular group, nor does it mean that each donation would be substantial rather than spread out, nor does it mean the money goes toward the ad itself rather than keeping all these various advocacy groups in business. If you don't believe that these business groups are responsible for keeping non-profits like this in operation, I'd really like to hear who you think is supplying the funding.

five for the evil in linking douchebaggery with saving the world(even though the jokers that make this shit are still running the same line of unveering logic that they picked up in high school/church/while fucking pigs, that they always have).

IrishWhiskey - 2009-02-17

Maybe they're not listening because you're relying on lazy stereotypes and strawmen rather than evidence and reasoning.

Killer Joe - 2009-02-17

Liberals are wealthy intellectual elite. Conservatives are good wholesome uneducated Americans.

undecided - 2009-02-17

These people remind me of creationists and holocaust deniers.

Cena_mark - 2009-02-17

I think you people are just as stupid as you think I am.

...Of course I'm not the one believing in Al Gore's bogeyman.

kamlem - 2009-02-17

"If Virginia completely stopped emitting CO2, emissions from foreign countries world replace it in less than 60 days."

What the hell does that mean? Is Virginia in some basin at the end of a crazy, lack of CO2 sensitive, pollution slipstream or something?

Cena_mark - 2009-02-17

Since when did CO2 beomce a pollutant? Its harmless to humans, we inhale and exhale it every day. Basically the Global Warming... Oops I mean Climate Change (they stopped calling it global warming since the worlds been getting cooler) hoax is nothing but a scheme to collect a wide new range of taxes.
Its not about the environment. It never has. Its just about power and granting the Democrats to collect carbon taxes will be a huge gain in power to the government.

Camonk - 2009-02-17

"Democrats to collect carbon taxes will be a huge gain in power to the government."

DOUBLE BONUS! We stop global warming and the good guys win! Big government! Big government! WOOO!

minimalist - 2009-02-17

"Since when did CO2 beomce a pollutant? Its harmless to humans, we inhale and exhale it every day."

Well, I sure am glad you decided to research this issue before forming an opinion on it

IrishWhiskey - 2009-02-17

You know what Cena, you might be right! Why don't you prove it to us by inhaling some CO2. Any level above 5% concentration in the air should be fine.

Innocent Bystander - 2009-02-17

Don't forget the evil climate change research scientists who are just RAKING IN the dough. Unlike the struggling, poor power companies who only want what's best for everyone.

Louis Armstrong - 2009-02-17

I agree with Cena on one point. Its just about power. Power that is renewable as opposed to no-renewable. We sadly don't care enough about the environment. What we do care about is a new industry to replace the futility of the long term solution that the oil and gas companies suggest. Jobs may be lost, but they will also be created in the green sector. Taxes may be raised on "pollution" and inefficency but breaks will be offered for "production" and efficency. Cost to live goes down, value of life goes up(more money, healthier air because its not just levels of CO2 that would be affected by this). And best of all and this is important Cena

"WE ARE NOT PAYING FOR SHIT WE DON'T NEED FROM COUNTRIES THAT HAVE THEIR OWN AGENDA AT HEART. WE ARE SELF SUFFICENT. WE ARE NOT FUCKED".

Go fuck that George Bush love doll you got for another four years if you can't wrap your head around this Cena. Then have a distain for ritz crakers with "Roundys" brand cheddar on them.

dueserpenti - 2009-02-17

Completely harmless. Get a big tank of it to breathe, slap on a mask, and go to town, just to show us. Don't forget to post it to Youtube!

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-02-17

Baleen, enough of this already.

dancingshadow - 2009-02-17

I don't think the danger is that the concentration of CO2 will become so large as to be toxic.

The problem is that CO2 has a high heat storage capacity and a small increse in concentration can lead to higher temps. I think methane has about 10 times the heat capacity of CO2.

I agree tho, I don't think CO2 can be called a pollutant.

Cena_mark - 2009-02-17

Yeah yeah, I know CO2 supposedly stores heat in our atmosphere, but it is not the cause of global warming. Our planet's changes in climate have been primarily the cause of the Sun. The planet has been getting cooler over the past few years. This is because the Sun is burning cooler as shown by the lack of sunspots on it.
This global warming is a path to economic disaster. We'll have to pay carbon tax, methane tax will make beef and pork more expensive. The US will have to pay carbon taxes to the U.N. Its a recipe for tyranny.

Desidiosus - 2009-02-17

You're aware you actually have to have a job before you pay taxes, aren't you?

Cena_mark - 2009-02-17

I have a job, I'm a Libertarian not a Democrat.

voodoo_pork - 2009-02-17

"I have a job, I'm an Obnoxious Douchebag, not a Pussy."

pastorofmuppets - 2009-02-18

CM, the planet has not been cooling at a rate that's consistent with the energy that the sun's been putting out.

dancingshadow - 2009-02-18

Years is not an appropriate time scale to measuse these kinds of changes. Looking at glaciers is a better measue because of their long life span and the historical data contained in them.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-02-18

Yeah, we don't have those anymore.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-02-18

I'm kidding...yeah they take ice core measurements, I believe there's a consistent 8 year difference in solar output and a change in the ice? Something like that. My point was that someone trying to argue against climate change is going to have a pretty hard time of it, given that there's a planet full of hard evidence.

The only debate here is whether or not is anthropogenic. And for that I'm willing to trust the scientific mainstream, as well as most of the governments of the world, before I trust the dude in the Hawaiian shirt eating crackers and cheese.

chumbucket - 2009-02-17

don't care about this beat to death subject anymore

David Spade on growth hormones

John_hmstr - 2009-02-17

WOOHOO! I'm rich bitch! and went to a great school!.... wait a minute no i didn't... hmm i am beginning to call into question the accuracy of this video. but thats probably just what the evil recession loving lib's want. I won't have it! then i guess I am rich! where my cars at!

Senator_Unger - 2009-02-18

Hey, I went to a fancy school with eco-hypocrites who inherited their money and I didn't see that asshole at any of the meetings!

dead_cat - 2009-02-20

Man, I wish I was rich enough to join the EcoHypocrite Club!

Ouroboros - 2009-03-24

It must be strange being a working actor. One of the nobodies I mean, rather than a star. Take this guy for instance. If he has any opinion on the issue at all (and there's no proof that he does) odds are at absolute best fifty-fifty that he is actually opposed to climate change policy. But an afternoon filming "liberal elite douchebag" will help pay his rent next month.

It's just kind of fascinating. Imagine being a working actor, making your money doing crazed attack ads like this, and then come november heading down to the polling booth to check off Obama.

Hooper_X - 2009-04-13

I really resent this ad. I attended Rich Man University, and they had really generous financial aid programs. I never could have afforded Ritz crackers and cheese, man.
