Wrong title, tags. This isn't an IBM machine. It's from Vendex.

chumbucket - 2009-02-23

it's assumed that IBM makes every computer ever made (until Apple actually showed up)

3 stars for having a Tucks ad in the intro and bookending it with the guy at the end

robotkarateman - 2009-02-23

This is on Bundy's web page, where he calls it the "IBM Headstart".

Frank Rizzo - 2009-02-23

mouser is a nucking foob and is too young for the "IBM compatible" era of the IBM compatible computing system.

Meerkat - 2009-02-23

Double Fail. The Apple, Apple II and Apple II+ were all made before the introduction of the IBM PC.

I still have my Apple II. It still works. It still plays Wizardry 1.

dr_rock - 2009-02-24

Well PCs yes. IBM has been around since forever making computers, long before Apple.

I nearly forgot about the "IBM compatible" days. Around this time I was rocking a DEC Rainbow 100 (Z80 *and* an 8088 bitches!). After that we got a Compaq luggable.

Syd Midnight - 2009-02-24

Look, in the mid 80s, either you had an Apple, or you had an IBM compatible. If you were lucky you had a Commodore so you could play more games. Those were the computers.

There were a million brands of IBM compatibles, and they were all referred to as IBMs or PCs even when they were made by Tandy or whoever. I actually hadn't thought about this in years and God I'm so old.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-02-24

Yes, yes, we all remember IBM compatibles. It wasn't even that long ago.

This still in no way should be called "IBM HeadStart". That's like saying IBM Gateway, or IBM Packard Bell.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-02-24

Tandy's big machine was the TRS-80, which was not a PC compatible, I believe they used a Motorola or Zilog chip rather than Intel. I could be wrong about that, our first computer was a 286.

Wonko the Sane - 2009-02-23

computers are old

Frank Rizzo - 2009-02-24

your moms a computer

Syd Midnight - 2009-02-24

This backfired because King Kong Bundy was not regarded as a particularly stupid wrestler, and was actually among the intellectual elite of the WWF villains.

They should have used George "The Animal" Steele whose character was best known for eating the padding out of turnbuckles.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-02-24

What was it about the 80s and those gray backdrops?

robotkarateman - 2009-02-24

More importantly, why were all pre-95 computer cases that awful cream color?

MrBuddy - 2009-02-24

I remember seeing a poster in a computer store of this guy standing next the Head Start. I could never understand why they choose a random, big, bald guy in a wrestlers leotard to tell you how great computers are. After all these years I finally know. Thank you POETV!
