Apparently this guy works at the Chamblee/Tucker Waffle House. That's pretty close to my house. If there's ever an Atlanta POE gathering, I think I know where we're dining. (Either here, or Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles. duh.)

Cena_mark - 2009-02-22

Most Waffle House employees hate the Waffle House jukebox songs. Its cool to see that this guy embraces them.
I live closest to the waffle house On Buford Highway where Kidd Rock got arrested.
If there is POE ATL gathering I'd take time out of my busy schedule to go.

Please, record everything.

seriouslyuguys - 2009-02-22

I live in walking distance of the Howell Mill road location.

Camonk - 2009-02-23

Cena_mark has to record everything cause baleen can't be there. They are never in the same room. HMM

rainbowcemetery - 2009-02-22

i used to go to that wafflehouse all the time. weird. although the last time i was there some old lady passed out on her feet and went face down on the floor, she came to a minute later screaming at the people tryin to help her up to leave her alone. after that, whenever times were bad i would often tell myself, at least i'm not facedown at the wafflehouse.

wtf japan - 2009-02-22

Interesting. I have a similar way of consoling myself: I just think, "at least I'm not face-down in the bathroom stall of a moving train, covered in my own vomit and the piss of innumerable Eastern Europeans, having drunk all of the recycled water out of the faucet which has a sign on it telling you not to drink the water... again."

But yeah, Waffle House is great.

Oldmacho - 2009-02-22

I had the unfortunate fate to work at one in high school, and with a guy that also had the songs memorized, loved them and sang them often.

Any place I found myself in after that job was always far better than being behind that counter wearing that paper hat.

Disaster - 2009-02-22

There should be a POE STL gathering. This guy has a really cool voice.

Colonel Cowlung - 2009-02-22

There are a few poe-sters in St. Louis. Any gathering would need to take place in the city, because that's where the action is. Unfortunately, there are no Waffle Houses in the city. Post-binging would have to occur at Uncle Bill's, the Buttery, the City Diner, or Eat Rite. The Waffle Houses in Westport or on Lindbergh will only get drunkards arrested.

Cleaner82 - 2009-02-22

Well I've never been to a Waffle House, but I can say at least that I love waffles.

Infinite sadness.

Chancho - 2009-02-22

He's going to blow his brains out with this song in his head.

La Loco - 2009-02-22

I think that song already blew his brains out.

Louis Armstrong - 2009-02-22

I perfer Huddle House, but the Waffle house gets kudos for being a better marker (with IHOP mostly to the north) of the mason dixon line.

Hooper_X - 2009-02-22

There are plenty of IHOPs in the south, at least in my experience. They're certainly well established in the Atlanta area, to a point that say, Denny's isn't.

Louis Armstrong - 2009-02-22

Thats why I said mostly. I know of a good many IHOPS in Florida.

Its interesting that the Onion "article" I saw saying this "Mason Dixon Line changed to IHOP/Waffle House line" was actually based on a good bit of fact. Where are the Yankee Waffle Houses? Show me and you win good sir.

Louis Armstrong - 2009-02-22

shit I didn't mean to start a new thread.

Hooper_X - 2009-02-22

Just looking at their website, there are quite a few in PA. Nothing north of there, and nothing east of there, but there are some in Northern PA up around Scranton. There are also quite a few around Toledo, OH, but that's more midwest than "yankee."

They're also as far west as Colorado Springs and Phoenix, so there's that. But yeah, they're primarily a southern thing, and I readily admit it.

Louis Armstrong - 2009-02-22

Curse you internet, Now I owe HOOPER X a Coke! noooooooooooooooooo!!!

punch drunk babies - 2009-02-22

A buddy of mine told me last week about how his brother, drunk and out pretty late, went into the waffle house here, inserted a dozen or so quarters, and selected "the waffle house song" over and over. Workers got pissed and made him leave w/o serving him. He should have done that AFTER he got his food

Hooper_X - 2009-02-23

He is not the first.

He will not be the last.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-02-22

No matter how bad things get, choose death before working in the service industry.

Syd Midnight - 2009-02-23
