Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-02-26

Games for the stoned, by the stoned.

Frank Rizzo - 2009-02-26

its like grand theft auto without the grand theft auto.

so what happens when you freak out, run a red light and run over an asian?

wtf japan...

TeflonDoc - 2009-02-26

more like Crazy Taxi without the crazy.

kelpfoot - 2009-02-26

Even to this day I think of my Dreamcast when I masturbate, but that doesn't excuse all those boring simulators.

Simillion - 2009-02-26

I downloaded, burned, and loved this game back when my dreamcast worked. It is terribly unsatisfying to break the rules though. You can't kill anyone, and penalties stack up so quick, the lifebar usually runs out 5 seconds in to a would-be bus rampage. Btw, this video doesn't let you appreciate how hard the game is. This guy is pro. He is announcing every stop, checking for new passengers, watching his speed, lights, and his route all at once. The game is damn intense, believe me.

Ryo-Cokey - 2009-02-26

Yes, this game is ridiculously hard.

I think I generally lost in under 15 seconds. Yes. At driving a bus.

boner - 2009-02-26

Sounds like all the worst parts of Police Quest.

Potrod - 2009-11-22

I don't even remember even knowing how to announce stops, or even that it was required. I remember lasting long enough to make it fun, though. I wish this got a localization because it ruled aside from now knowing how to do anything.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-02-26

Come on, hit something.

Hit something, damn you!

Westward - 2009-02-26

I was over at a friend's house when his roommate popped this in. "Dude, you guys are going to love this."

Fucking bizarre. Never has a game been so slow and so tense at the same time.

MongoMcMichael - 2009-02-26

I liked the part when he was driving.

KnowFuture - 2009-02-26

It's the predecessor to that game Penn & Teller made where you drive a truck from Las Vegas to L.A. in real time.

Chalkdust - 2009-05-08

it's actually the heir apparent; Desert Bus was part of a Sega CD game

Cube - 2009-02-26

Looks pretty nice, too bad the soundtrack is messed up.

Lauritz Melchior - 2009-02-26

I love your description.

YakooMarkTwo - 2009-02-26

Is that some muzak interpolation of "Margaritaville"?

Side note: muzak of Jimmy Buffet is redundant.

nuzzles - 2009-02-26

This game needs the "Price is Right" showcase showdown background music makeover.

It worked for Oblivion.

chumbucket - 2009-02-26

no I think "Match Game" fits better

this game does look pretty cool, when I ride public buses I do think about what those drivers deal with on a daily basis: urban traffic, size of the vehicle, timetables, riders in general.

would be nice if you could change the radio station though or take a smoke break

StanleyPain - 2009-02-26

This is nothing. One of the biggest series in Japan on the Dreamcast (and then the PS2) was the Densha De Go series from Taito where you operated an elevated train. All you did was accelerate/decelerate and brake. It was so popular they even came out with a special controller for it made to look like the throttle stick from a real train!

Prickly Pete - 2009-02-26

Pound for pound, the Dreamcast was the best console I ever owned. Since there was no security protetction, I had about 80 games on cd-r's that I had downloaded from ftp sites. I remember some representative for Sega saying something like, "We know people are going to figure out ways around the security anyway, so we just didn't bother developing any."

Aaaaaaaand now they have no console division...

StanleyPain - 2009-02-26

Of course, shithead pirates might have something to do with why they have no console division. But OMG PAYING FOR GAMES IS LIKE HITLAR KKKORPORATION STEALING MY MONEYS

Mike Tyson?! - 2009-02-26

No, Sega did try doing copy protection but it was always cracked.

baleen - 2009-02-26

I'd play this if I were allowed to kick out passengers based on their race or the way they smelled.

FangoftheCobras - 2009-02-27

I would enjoy it if I could drive by a stop and just shake my head at the people as I leave them behind. Fucking Muni bastards.

Desidiosus - 2009-02-26

I don't know if I could play a driving game where I can't run anyone over.

Or at least flip them off as I race by their stop, just like a real bus driver.

ArgonautCock - 2009-02-26

Between this and Virtua Longshoreman, I'm gonna go ahead and say the Dreamcast is pretty much the best gaming system ever produce by human hands.
