godot - 2009-03-06 zato, while I'm sympathetic to your concerns (not just with this video) think about this: music has existed for at least several thousand years, and almost certainly a hundred thousand, as a facilitator of trance to religious states and of mating rituals. And yet, most guitar rock concerts are sausage fests.
Maybe its not the music but the setting, but looking worldwide, its this sort of trash that is inheriting the historical social roles of music (trance & conjugation). Ask yourself why, and fix it in your own musical community.

All I know about MY is that: 1) she is the svengali that discovered and wrote much of the material for Alizee (of animated ass .gif fame), 2) she's THE most commercially successful francophone singer, akin in stature in France and continental Europe to Madonna, 3) her videos are pretty consistently visually stunning and cinematic, and 4) that said, her earlier work is marred by some of the worst excesses of 80s sonic pablum.
A subject for further study. From a half-remembered semester of French, her lyrics are an odd mixture of sexual come-on and social discontent.

If one looks closely, female nipples are mostly obscured by the devices of camera blur, hair, or airbrushing here. Other body parts that might be dangerous are out of frame.
Thus society is saved.
BTW, MY's very first music video (for "Libertine") was notably also the very first music video with full frontal nudity of the featured artist. Also, when peeking at her in this video, think this: MY is 48 years old.
