His reasoning is weak, but I hope he's right. Eventually even you libs will see past his good looks and his well delivered speeches, and see a man who did not deserve to be president.

glasseye - 2009-03-29

Eventually conservatives will see that the ideals they hold so dear are evolutionary throwbacks suitable only for the weak willed.

Cena_mark - 2009-03-29

Individual responsibility is a value held by the weak willed? Individual and economic liberty is an evolutionary throwback?

glasseye - 2009-03-29

Conservatives pay lip service to those, but they are not their true values. Conservatives seek to institute economic slavery, concentration of power in the corporate elite, and theocratic control over social freedoms.

They will be defeated.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-03-29

If good looks and well delivered speeches worked for Reagan it can work for Obama too!

Cena_mark - 2009-03-29

Reagan was more than that. Reagan actually had executive experience. Reagan actually did save the economy from Jimmy Carter. Reagan actually did defeat Communism.
Granted Obama has only had a few months in the White House, I doubt his accomplishments will be anywhere near as stunning.

Innocent Bystander - 2009-03-29

Individual and economic liberties?

You mean like freedom of religion, the right for a women to make decisions concerning her body, the freedom of scientific research, individual liberties concerning narcotics, the right to marry anyone you want, freedom of the press?

Yeah, conservatives all over the world are totally behind all of those things.

wtf japan - 2009-03-29

Decadence or oppression. Choose.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-03-29

"Reagan actually did defeat Communism. "

He had a lot of help. Them being bankrupt was a big factor.

But what really concerns me about the whole "legacy of Reagan" is the whacko spin conservatives put on it. They remember his first term, full of saber-rattling and ultimatums and so forth as being successful. When he finally figured out that any military conflict with the USSR would most likely be mankind's final conflict, he actually started negotiating with Gorbachev. The right-wing squawk machine went berserk. Limbaugh called it all a "trick," referring to any good feelings that you had about how talks were going as phony "Gorbasms." But those negotiations eased us away from the brink and led to the breakup of the Soviet Union.

But then along come people like Bush and Cheney who seem to think it was the dick-waving that accomplished something, and they never figure out what even an ex-actor with Alzheimers was able to deduce. Thank goodness they're not in charge anymore.

Cena_mark - 2009-03-29

Innocent Bisexual: Individual liberties include all those. But some conservatives don't. That's why I hate being labeled a Republican, because though I prefer Bush to Obama, I still am prochoice, and pro gay marriage.

BTW: When did conservatives attack freedom of the press?

Asseye: Great assessment of Capitalism. Did you just finish your first year of college?

Innocent Bystander - 2009-03-29

Oh man! I got a nickname from Marky Mark! I am sooooo happy! Even he didn't spend a lot of time on it! It's the thought that counts ya know!

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-03-29

Cena Mark, the low functioning make believe conservative underdog of PoeTV, bravely taking a stand against the unchecked liberalism on a site dedicated to making fun of Internet videos. Cena Mark, presenting vague, biased, and gapped filled views of history and politics gleaned through years of passive listening to AM talk radio whilst busily driving a septic tank truck for a living to support his indulgences in beer drinking and wife beating.

KnowFuture - 2009-03-29

You're really just a fucking parrot, aren't you?

RAWWK, REAGAN DEFEATED COMMUNISM

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2009-03-29

Jesus Christ, the Soviet state was so bankrupt (politically and morally and economically) by the mid-1980s that a hummingbird could have tapped it and it would have fallen over

Desidiosus - 2009-03-29

Meanwhile, the Republicans "improve" the budget by taking all the numbers out and refusing to answer questions about how much anything costs or how it's supposed to be paid for.

B. Weed - 2009-03-29

Do you and Gomorrah trade orifice tips on how to keep the extra holes in your body open when you don't have POEr dicks crammed in them?

phalsebob - 2009-03-29

Oh for fuck's sake. You people are trying to reason with a grown up wrestling fan.

futurebot - 2009-03-29

"asseye" ...OWNED

glasseye - 2009-03-29

I'm a huge fan of capitalism. What I'm not a fan of is government shoveling enormous amounts of money down the gullets of mega-corporations on no-bid contracts. Thank you mr. Bush.

Cena_mark - 2009-03-29

Looks like we've reached a common ground. I too hate bailouts. And I wish Bush didn't do that.

glasseye - 2009-03-29

The amount of money shoveled down the throats of private contractors (via no-bid contracts) during the Iraq war goes far beyond the recent bailouts.

There is extensive evidence of abuse by these companies, at the expense of our soldiers and the Iraqi people.

Cena_mark - 2009-03-29

Once again I agree with you. I was against getting into the war with Iraq, I still am. But now I do think we need to finish the job. And there was some shady shit going on with the private contractors.

Blaise - 2009-03-29

Sigh ... if I had a dollar for every non-qualified presidential candidate I've ever voted for ...

I'd still have less money than the republicans have made voting for qualified psychotics!

kingarthur - 2009-03-29

Zing!

Screwtape - 2009-03-29

Political Fact: not a single US president ever majored in Presidenting. Many never even took Presidenting 101. We've had a long history of unqualified hacks.

Magical Man from Happy-Land - 2009-03-29

I dont know why but I still really like paul begala.

Meerkat - 2009-03-29

"Crazy-Eyes" Castellanos!

He looks like he's having trouble concentrating what with all the voices in his head.

Xenocide - 2009-03-29

A confident president? That's the last thing we need!

StanleyPain - 2009-03-29

WHO DOES THIS GUY THINK HE IS?? THE PRESIDENT OR SOMETHING??? STEP BACK, NEWCOMER, AND LET THE PROS WORK THIS SHIT OUT.

IrishWhiskey - 2009-03-29

So the argument is that he's arrogant, dismissive, lacks experience, and forces legislation through without letting Congress read it.

Given recent history, shouldn't that make him a lock for two terms?

RomancingTrain - 2009-03-29

Everything they accuse their opponents of doing or being, EVERYTHING, they have done worse.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-03-30

The GOP's demonized caricature of, well, everyone not on the extreme right has lead to them creating a gigantic strawman that they accuse of just about every vice, crime, weakness, fault, and bias.

By making this myth their "opposition," they run afoul of an old saying that seems to run true: "Choose your enemies carefully, for you will become them."
