if he wasnt a rich football player (lawsuit! lawsuit! lawsuit!) this may have made the news, but no way would the officer in question be put on payed vacation, errr I mean payed leave and no way in hell would the police dept have apologized publicly like they did.
That was EXACTLY what I was thinking when I saw this. Worse than the usual cop power tripping insensitivity (which should surprise no one (and is bad enough)), I'm more disgusted by their mamby-pamby, two-face, hypocritical, politically-motivated butt whiffing after the fact.
Still, the fact that he didn't let up or delay his ticket writing even when the doctors came out to verify that his mother in law had minutes to live is beyond following proper procedure imo
The only thing more pathetic than the power tripping cop is the fawning and grovelling that follow once it is revealed that a professional athlete is involved.
WHy yes, just LOOK AT ALL THE GROVELING GOING ON HERE on POETV. Jesus, it is truly sickening, I can barely even read these comments through all the FAWNING.
Obviously lying; racing to the hospital? oldest trick in the book.
This is really a relatively minor abuse of power; I say that mostly remembering the cop that stopped someone bringing their dying parent to the hospital, and because it was his in-law.
