I'll bet grandpa would read "Mein Kampf" if the binding was nice enough.

Aelric - 2009-03-29 All great books are by crazy people, wtf japan. literature is the only medium where madness is not only encouraged, it's required. I saw Ulysses on that shelf. Finnegans Wake is only one volume away.
P.S. Finnigans Wake record page 158 before I had to put it down. better than my college Lit professor. I'm proud of that, but I don't know why.

wtf japan - 2009-03-29 I just suggested that everyone read Mein Kampf (and the other books issued to Nazi soldiers), and then became indignant when everyone else started suggesting books by crazy people. That's what I did there, Aelric, and I think you missed it.
Who's crazier, the person who writes the crazy book, or the society that thinks the book is great?

1:08 - 1:14 is insanely odd.

Grandpa never actually read Moby Dick.
No kid is stupid enough to think Moby Dick is an adventure story.

I still use the phrase, "Thar she blows! A hump like a snowhill!", almost daily because of these commercials.

Yeah, kids sure love Moby Dick. That awesome cover with the giant, demonic fucking white whale smashing down into the ocean while the Pequod bears down, harpoons at the ready!!!
Too bad the book is 800 pages of descriptions of mugs, clothing, sailing equipment, and sea water with about 150 pages of actual whale action.

"I'm reading Anna Karenina!"
Are you trying to tell us something lady?

"Grandpa, does Captain Ahab ever get Moby Dick?"
"He sure does, son! And then he fucking dies!"
