looks like the Republican party has a new front runner for 2012!

Robert DeNegro - 2009-03-31

You see, in a truly free, open society governed by the democratic rule of law, where all races, faiths, sexes, orientations and opinions are respected, this man would be stoned.

Ursa_minor - 2009-03-31

For this.

manfred - 2009-03-31

Aren't Lithuanians usually Catholic and not "batshit insane"?

pastorofmuppets - 2009-03-31

I think the establishment clause should be amended with "Congress shall also not read religious claptrap into the record so as to get their daily evangelizing requirements out of the way before they leave work"

baleen - 2009-03-31

This is pretty much anything that Jim Inhofe has ever sputtered out of his neanderthal skull.

Innocent Bystander - 2009-03-31

Chill out.

God is on it.

Hey, that would make a great t-shirt!

Syd Midnight - 2009-03-31

DMKA - 2009-03-31

Thanks for reminding me that these are the people running my country.

spencer - 2009-03-31

For the bemused reaction of the girl on the right when he whips out the Bible quote.

Syd Midnight - 2009-03-31

That makes the preview image great too

Chip - 2009-03-31

Heh, I'd missed that. Thanks.

Cena_mark - 2009-03-31

Don't use religion to disprove global warming. The scientific evidence points against it, use that. It snowed in Atlanta this month. IN MARCH! If global warming was real it would never snow in Atlanta.

Hooper_X - 2009-03-31

See, here's the thing, champ. In statistics, we have points of data that we call "outliers." Outliers are funny things, because they're the anomalies, the exceptions to the rule. One snowstorm in March is an exception to the historical weather patterns for a region, which are growing warmer. Do I need to remind you that the VERY NEXT WEEKEND after said snowstorm, it was 75 degrees and sunny? In the middle of March! Clearly, global warming exists.

(pet peeve: I know there's this argument that "yeah, global temperatures have gone up slightly, year after year, for the last twenty years, but last year they went DOWN slightly! So there's no global warming!" Now, if you flip a coin 19 times and every time it comes up heads, and then the last time you flip it, it comes up tails, you don't say GEE SHIT I GUESS THERE'S NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT THIS COIN AFTER ALL.)

(I am less feeding the troll here and more venting about how much I hate people in general.)

Cena_mark - 2009-03-31

Actually temperatures have been dropping the past 8 years. The 1 degree Celsius gained during the last 50 years that the environuts were bitching about has dropped back down in those 8 years.

takewithfood - 2009-03-31

[citation needed]

Louis Armstrong - 2009-03-31

Didn't the Bush administration limit, change, and blackout any scientific research done by NASA in the field of climate/atmosphere studies when that reliable and reproducable information went against its idealology?

I think that might describe your time span of eight years.

baleen - 2009-03-31

The 8 years he is referring to applies to some local weather patterns, but not all of them. Just because global warming is happening doesn't mean local weather trends are going to stop happening. What cena mark didn't bother to mention is that the regional cooling trends are going to be over pretty soon, and we'll be back to warming, he also didn't bother to mention that the cooling trends of the past 8 years are warmer than those of the past century.

Keefu - 2009-03-31

Is fatass_mark trying flout unweildy, dumb conservapinions again, oh he is

glasseye - 2009-03-31

An introductory course in climate will show you conclusively that an increase in average global temperature (which is indisputably occurring) will directly cause a broader range of weather patterns in most locations.

Think of it like dropping a bowling ball into a bath tub. The average water level goes up, AND the surface thrashes about until a new equilibrium state is reached.

Randroid - 2009-03-31

Cena's just being the voice of reason, the boy next door.

simon666 - 2009-03-31

Furthermore, "Global Warming" is easier to understand in terms of how the increase in the global average temperature destabilizes the weather patterns we're used to, rather than just more warm weather.

Innocent Bystander - 2009-03-31

What simon (and others) said. Some dude even said the phenomenon should be called global weirding (as in weirder weather) than warming since it causes weather which fluctuates between extremes and also causes more extreme weather phenomenon (hurricanes, drought, way too much or little rain etc.) which ironically is exactly what marky was referring to in the first post, about the snowfall in Atlanta.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-03-31

Like someone else said in another video post, remember; Cena is a grown man who wears makeup and watches wrestling.

Cena_mark - 2009-03-31

Now I'm not a scientist. But I listen to informed people on the radio like Neal Boortz, who continually research the case against man made global warming. Which is nothing more than a weapon against free market capitalism.
The info is out there online. I've already watched those dreadful videos by Pothead54, now its your turn to give the other side a chance.

BTW: Scrotum, Shaft_h_arterieglorious: Its face paint not makeup.

Helena Handbasket - 2009-03-31

"Which is nothing more than a weapon against free market capitalism. "

For Cena.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2009-03-31

You're not a scientist. So why don't you listen to scientists?

97% of Climatologists agree that not only the earth is getting warmer, but that we do have some effect.

The only real debate among climatologists is how much of an effect humans have.

Of course I actually listen to the scientists and my information comes from science - but you wouldn't want to believe that.

baleen - 2009-03-31

"Actually temperatures have been dropping the past 8 years"
You might want to check on that, champ.

seriouslyuguys - 2009-03-31

In fact, check it right here: http://tinyurl.com/c6kbfu it only goes up to 2007, but the trend is clear.

Stopheles - 2009-03-31

I'm dying to know when he thinks the "age of dinosaurs" was. Did it take place after the Ubaid period in Sumeria, as with the Young Earth Creationists' concept?

Also: is Revelation proof that God is going to break his promise to never hurt the planet? If so, the whole 'infallible, unchanging and perfect' bit might need to be reconsidered.

kingarthur - 2009-03-31

My five stars are for the first person in that room to stop the proceedings and say, "No, John. You're an ass. Don't talk anymore today."

Viator - 2009-03-31

Dinosaurs and miners in the same sentence, wow.

Adham Nu'man - 2009-03-31

"I appreciate the hearing, and look forward to the questions, thank you Mr Chairman".

I bet those questions came pouring in.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-03-31

Most of them starting with "what the fuck."

sunisevil - 2009-03-31

I.... I.... I don't know.

notbob - 2009-03-31

Science, now with 100% more reference!

IrishWhiskey - 2009-03-31

For all the crazy, stupid, selective quoting of the Old Testament to reach a conclusion that isn't even supported by the Bible quote, one line really stood out:

"There is a theological debate as to whether there is a carbon surplus."

No. No there isn't. There's not theological basis for determining the amount of carbon in the atmosphere, let alone the environmental impact of growing carbon levels. There's just a scientific basis, which is that defiled, twisted, and ignored in order to fit a theological conclusion. Reason doesn't enter into it, just the use of ignorance to defend a philosophy of ignorance.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-03-31

everything he was saying was based on that theme: how he was happy to talk about "the theological side" with the clergy that were present, etc.

these people don't know how to argue. someone should slap this guy with a thermometer.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-03-31

Christianity: don't worry about taking personal responsibility for your own actions. Just pray everything away and Jesus will take care of it for you.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-03-31

Can we please stop calling it "global warming" and start calling it "climate change"? These folks perpetuate themselves by using an inaccurate term to sucker the rubes into "GEE, I COULD USE SUMMATHAT GLOBAL WARMING HERE IN MINNESOTA DUR HURRR".

IrishWhiskey - 2011-07-17

"CLIMATE CHANGE? YOU MEAN LIKE FROM SUMMER TO WINTER? BOY YOU SURE ARE DUMB FOR NOT KNOWING WHAT SEASONS ARE DUR HURRR."

I agree it's more accurate, but the rubes are generally either hostile to anything challenging existing beliefs, or too lazy to pay attention to a scientific theory more complicated than "God did it." It won't change anything.
