I feel like calling everything that does something a robot raises hopes and dashes them. "Look, the robots of the future," turned out to be small crane arms that make cars.

The "artist's statement" pretty much ruined any enjoyment I may have potentially gleaned from this clip.

Yeah, I try to forgive those things because they pretty much HAVE to be insufferable to actually get a person funding, but it usually doesn't work.

It's the cuteness factor. As soon as I saw it, I said "They should do a second run with an ugly one, and then a third control run where it has no face at all!" I guarantee you'd get different results.

Yeah, there are only a handful of cities with the population density and the foot traffic to even attempt this, but I imagine the results would be pretty similar, depending on the time of day - people who are out on a saturday walking their dogs, riding bikes, playing in the park, are going to be more amenable to a bit of fun than your tuesday morning harried business folk, regardless of location.

(It'd be cool to try it in different countries, too. You could definitely give it a whirl in most European capital cities...)
