Ironically, the creator of legos wanted them to be a nonviolent toy, which is why for a long time they only came in super-bright, nonmilitary colors.

Cap'n Profan!ty - 2009-04-21

i will tell you a story of kjeld kirk kristiansen, who is the current sole owner of the lego group and son of said creator.

when i had my big ol' japanese heavy cruiser (partially the impetus behind jumpei's masterpiece here) he came out to the show where i had it, and said that he really liked it and the detail was excellent, but he couldn't say it with cameras around because of the company philosophy.

they still won't make "realistic" war toys, and they get around it by making "movie toys" as tie-ins. sneaky, but that's the grounds. they also make the movie sets' faces in "skin colors" to distance them from the lego yellow people.

I was expecting the battlecruiser from starcraft.

Pillager - 2009-04-21

Same here, but this is still impressive.

socialist_hentai - 2009-04-21

There was no battle cruiser in Starcraft called Yamato.

thebaronsdoctor - 2009-04-21

Thinking of this perhaps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Battleship_Yamato

socialist_hentai - 2009-04-21

no he was thinking of the Yamato Gun, a special ability of the terran battlecruiser modeled after the wave motion gun from Space Battle Ship Yamato.

delicatessen - 2009-04-21

I see no wave motion gun. NO STARS! Just kidding, here are five.

Kumquatxop - 2009-04-21

Wonko the Sane - 2009-04-21

took longer to build than the real thing.

Doctor Arcane - 2009-04-21

Holy shit, you're right.

dancingshadow - 2009-04-21

Probably cost more too.

Cap'n Profan!ty - 2009-04-21

PS: He didn't detail the interior at all. That, to me, is a cop-out. BAD!

Repomancer - 2009-04-21

I sank the Yamato years ago in Aces of the Pacific. Cap'n RULES!!

chumbucket - 2009-04-21

was going to subtract a star for the lame over-used Pirates theme but my military geekness refused
also 5 for "Mortorized"

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-07-14
