And runs his own videogame company. NEEEEERRRRRDDDD!

chumbucket - 2009-04-21

and the first game they produce sucks balls
I can't imagine trying to play D&D with this guy. he's that player doing:
"uhhhh, sooo, I got this +20 damage mace and I'm gonna hold it over my head, like this" -shows how he holds it- "and uh, like I'm gonna try to do a roundhouse kick just as I'm swinging the mace for his head like this" -slams leg into table when he show how its done knocking dice everywhere- "so uh, does my guy kill him? do I roll now?"

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-04-21

Everybody always gets mad at me when I say I'm gonna shoot something in the eye. They want to leave the location of the shot out of the game, and leave the damage up to the 'dice.'

Suckers.

Toenails - 2009-04-21

When I played D&D my DM had no problem with letting us call our shots. Of course he slapped us with a -7 to -13 modifier to our attack roll and made our character receptive to an Attack of Opportunity.

He really enjoyed seeing us fail.

TheDevilsDictionary - 2009-04-21

Escape From Butcher Bay was great! What are you talking about? Was that not their first title?

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-04-21

That's all of them, Toenails. Even with the kind ones, it's only a matter of time before the god complex takes hold.

Which is why I'm starting a game.

oogaBooga - 2009-04-23

Bullshit, escape from butcher bay was fun as shit.

Point:

-Screwdriver in the neck

-Jam Pen in Eye Socket

-Death From Above (hanging riddick, unsuspecting dingus style)

-Dropping live (and dead) people into rock grinders

-Actually getting the shotgun at one point

-THE FUCKING FIST FIGHTING WAS AWESOME. Shiv, and metal pipe obviously the best.

Man, that riddick game was so cool and unique that most people were so lost because its not something they are used to, that they all instantly assumed since their first few hours of the game werent enough for them to "master" it.

And did you see that fucking interface? For pause/savegame/etc?

Its a fucking event horizon rubix typewriter cube!

Bastard - 2009-04-21

I remember a professor of mine was a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer also a one time member of the Olympic Weightlifting team. Nerds who can effortlessly break your neck are mocked at your own peril.

baleen - 2009-04-21

They were laughing at him at the beginning, but he won them over.

Boxhead - 2009-04-21

Let me tell ya Vin, it sucks playing now in this world with the technology.

D&D story time:

new guy to the game, never played a tabletop. GM says, "Ok, you've snuck up to the fortress. On the front door are what looks like two guards."

New guy: "I try to aggro just the one guard closest to us."

phalsebob - 2009-04-21

You should called Vin over to kick his ass! He was a bouncer.

Also, as odd as it seems, Vin talking about his love of D&D has increased my respect for him.

Camonk - 2009-04-21

Plus he just drops the word "antithesis" into a conversation. NEEEEERD!

Comeuppance - 2009-04-21

Okay, so, my respect for this man just tripled.

That's not saying much, but, it happened.

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-04-21

I remember right after XXX came out, he was on Conan, and explained how he worked the name of his D&D character (a dwarf) into the fake tattoos he had all over his body for that film.

He wasn't slow and thoughtful in that interview, the way he is in this one. His voice took on a higher tone, and he talked about nerd shit with excitement, the way a true nerd would do when not being observed.

I know how you feel right now, because I felt that way right then.

eatenmyeyes - 2009-04-21

It wasn't a dwarf. It was a Drow Witch-Hunter.

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-04-21

Are you absolutely sure?

I wonder if I turned that into a half-assed acronym in my head over the years.

Source?

Not being a Jew, I just actually want to know.

TheDevilsDictionary - 2009-04-21

He's right, according to this transcript.

Enjoy - 2009-04-21

I was going to say this was surprising, a gentile on Shoot Out, but I did a search and it turns out Vin Diesel is Jewish.

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-04-21

This thread my respect for Vin Diesel has gone thusly:

+
+
+
-

sosage - 2009-04-21

He has always come off as a pretty down to earth guy to me. One of his Jay Leno interviews kind of sold me on that. ...and yeah, he has muscles and can probably get laid whenever he wants. I don't think he cares about anyone calling him a nerd.

Comatose2 - 2009-04-21

I'll bet it was hard growing up as a jewish D&D nerd named Alvin (before he hit the weights).

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-04-21

I still say he's gay as a picnic.

Chancho - 2009-04-21

Shhhh, it's a big secret!

Comeuppance - 2009-04-21

A gay jewish bodybuilder actor nerd.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-04-21

Hey!! That's the BEST KIND of gay, jew, bodybuilder, actor, and nerd! Vinny is indeed one heck of an alloftheabove.

yogarfield - 2015-07-17

@ROUS 5

thirteen3seven - 2009-04-21

I'm going to five-star this because Vin Diesel is the D&D nerd we all wish we could be.

EvilHomer - 2009-04-21

Uh-oh.

I think I just developed a gay crush on Vin Diesel. :( :( :(

Also, Vin was a bouncer.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-04-21

Believe it or not, Europeans have no societal stigma against roleplaying. This is why the fundamentalists fear the rise of socialism... we might all end up rolling d20s without shame and fear of reprisal, and they can't have that.

Blaise - 2009-04-21

Vin rocks.

Sure he's made some poor movie choices, but even his bad movies are better than the crap Tom Cruise does.

I think he got some bad rep because he dared think he's as good as Tom.

oogaBooga - 2009-04-23

He dared - and was right. If vin diesel buys into scientology it's all over. He's going to jump onto a surfacing submarine, rip the hatch off and start unloading nuclear justice for the C-ORG.
