A pretty simple task with today's stencil buffers.

To be honest, I have no idea what was involved. I only know it involved 35,000 still photographs, a "light artist" with a flashlight/laser pointer who presumably illuminated the still-lifes of the stills, and something called live projection mapping. The overall effect captivated me.

Fedaden, the who did the soundtrack, is the first IDM musician from Morocco I'm aware of. His albums are _nice_ if you're into that.

That was a back facing polygon joke, right? I am confused about the lack of a fifth star.

Unfortunately I was a bit confused by the description too, because "projection mapping" means a very different thing in computer graphics from how it's being used here. From what I understand, this is actually doing the exact OPPOSITE of projection mapping - applying a computer-generated image to the surface of real-world objects (as opposed to projection mapping, where you're projecting a real-world photograph onto an approximated 3D environment).

Okay, it looks like some people use it to mean both things interchangeably. For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c4kmqtTIJc

The math is basically the same in both cases and it's just a matter of which is the input and which is the output, so I guess I'm pretty okay with this.

Sounds like Philip Glass music. No stars because this is Portal of Evil TV not Portal of Astoundingly Cool TV

chumbucket - 2009-04-29

that's why it gets my 5 star

Dupe, I think. At least, I've seen it before.
