I had forgotten how out right fugly PCs were back then.

mouser - 2009-05-03

Most still are.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-05-03

The keyboards kicked ass back then. They were thick and strong enough endure multiple key bashing when you tried in vain to configure your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXAC.BAT files to run the latest memory hungry game.

Mike Tyson?! - 2009-05-03

Remember CRT monitors?

DMKA - 2009-05-03

Yeah, I remember their lack of ghosting the shit out of everything and vibrant reproduction of colors, unlike 99% of these shitty LCD monitors, which are sadly all you can find now.

I'd still be using a CTR monitor had my awesome 22 inch Sony one not been thrown off a balcony in an ex's fit of rage.

The Mothership - 2009-05-03

0:43 Is he talking to his daughter, or a puppy?

Iakchos - 2009-05-03

The ending of this simply BLEW MY MIND.
Instead of answering his daughter's simple question, the father steps through a portal into a strange futuristic room beyond space and time and then slowly approaches another portal, only to disappear in a blinding white light.
It was like "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite" sequence or a visual representation of Bardo experience, and totally unexpected.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-05-03

The first thing you do in the afterlife is listen to some soft rock and pick an office computer.

VoilaIntruder - 2009-05-03

Strange that most world religions have ignored this fact.

Robin Kestrel - 2009-07-17

Yeah at the one minute mark it gets all weird. It think it's supposed to be a metaphor for the old man dying. "At least I provided for my daughter before I died!" CUE INAPPROPRIATE MUSIC

Frank Rizzo - 2009-05-03

ACTING!!!!

"creepy dad" needs to be linked

Aoi - 2009-05-03

Honestly, I'm rather surprised it isn't already.

FABIO - 2009-08-16

Firewalk with Me is already posted, so it really should be.

freedoom - 2009-05-03

We had one of the full tower gateway 2000 computers in our graphic arts room in high school. i'm pretty sure it was a Pentium though. i failed that class because i never did anything in it except play on that computer. that and my 486 thinkpad laptop.

dr_rock - 2009-05-03

j00 4r3 s0 r337! We built all our own PCs for our HS this same year. It was awesome stuff for the time - all Pentiums, a 10baseT LAN with Slackware linux servers (floppy sets, anyone?) which my friend Beaner had root on (legally), and a T1 to the net. I distinctly remember showing our librarian this new website called Yahoo.

Senior year was very unproductive (academically) for us nerds. I spent most of the time in warez IRC channels during Pascal class. ph34r!

ztc - 2009-05-03

oh god

pastorofmuppets - 2009-05-04

man i was pretty nerdy in high school but nothing on the level of properly setting up slackware

pastorofmuppets - 2009-05-04

(that would come later)

themilkshark - 2009-05-03

Doo dee doo, let's see... This computer still won't turn on, hmm... Neither will this one. Huh... Oh well, fuck it. I'll just teleport into the toolshed to beat it again.

fluffy - 2009-05-03

"mini desktop"

mashedtater - 2009-05-03

yes i snorted there too

RoyCastle - 2009-05-03

cut back to daughter, tears streaming down her face: "daddy? are you going to come back?... ever?..."

sosage - 2009-05-03

...but does it play Doom?

Enjoy - 2009-05-03

-1 star for DX2-50. The DX2s ran the bus speed at 25Mhz unlike the AMD DX50 which ran the whole deal at 50Mhz.

And if you didn't have a US Robotics HST Dual Standard then just sign out.

revdrew - 2009-05-03

Rich brat.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-05-03

The ending implies that he's about to go fight crime with one of those computers. Criminals will learn to fear Creepy Dad and his computers.

ztc - 2009-05-03

Was 1994 really that long ago

Aubrey McFate - 2009-05-10

15 years, buddy

athodyd - 2009-05-10
