I know a lot of religious people are assholes, though I never had any experiences like yours because I only started losing my religious beliefs a few years ago.
Since I was religious and church going just 3 years ago I understand religious people. When they're being assholes they think they're doing the right thing. I forgive those transgressions for they do and think these things for their God. God doesn't fall under logic so you can't expect them to believe in science.
I used to think people were atheists to be cool, but now I realize I just can't believe what I used to anymore. I wish I was still Christian, because I liked the security of God having my back. I guess that's why I fall back on prowrestlers now.
