okay anyone with working knowledge of thermodynamics care to explain this one?

Millard - 2009-05-21

You really need to have a fire sprinkler explained to you?

Comeuppance - 2009-05-21

I don't think you need a working knowledge of thermodynamics to explain setting off the fire suppression system.

PornocracyNow - 2009-05-21

Wait that's all it was?

man that guy wasn't very smart. at the least take in some duct-tape and a plastic bag.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-05-21

A cubic meter of water is precisely one ton. Show me your multi ton bin liners and duct tape.

PornocracyNow - 2009-05-21

its to keep the smoke away from the detector, wunderkin.

Hay Belly - 2009-05-21

Show them anyway.

Colonel Cowlung - 2009-05-21

The standard temperature rating for a fire sprinkler is 155F applied to the glass bulb that keeps it sealed; you're not going to hit that by smoking in the same room. Personally I didn't see any evidence of him smoking anyway. It's more likely that he was moving product around on shelves and managed to bump the head hard enough to break it open. Or maybe he's a moron that wanted to see what would happen when he put his cigarette or lighter directly up to the head. Smoke detection only activates fire protection systems in special applications that don't include fast-food freezers.

That head is putting out a bare minimum of 15 gpm, with 30 gpm or more being likely. The water in the pipes has been stagnating for years; it's black from microbiological influenced corrosion, dirt, and the cutting oil used during fabrication. It stinks and permanently stains.

There's a shut-off valve somewhere in that building, but odds are these guys don't have access to it, know that it exists, or know how to operate it. They're fucked until the fire department shows up.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-05-21

Maybe we're both wrong and the best idea is to wear the bag over your head.

Chibisuke - 2009-05-21

If that's just from a sprinkler head, why is the water so FILTHY?

Dinkin Flicka - 2009-05-21

Because the freezer, like a disease infested whore, could use a scrub.

Syd Midnight - 2009-05-22

Maybe it was hooked up to an electronic smoke detector that senses smoke. Cigarettes can set of some of those. Do they even make the sprinklers with little bulbs of bromine in them anymore?

revdrew - 2009-05-21

I know it's a cliche but Yakkity Sax really would work here.

Also five for "pirates of dark water".

MongoMcMichael - 2009-05-21

Bloth sure had some awkward teenage years.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-05-21

I think the theme to "The Pirates of Dark Water" would be far more appropriate.

dead_cat - 2009-05-22

I'm torn here. Both themes would work well.

5 stars for the water exploding that door open. That is the absolute worst real-time water hazard I've seen since my mother's washing machine blew one of its connector hoses.

socialist_hentai - 2009-05-21

five extra stars for the last tag.

spikestoyiu - 2009-05-21

1:55 is really great.

Also, where's Jennifer Connelly?

chumbucket - 2009-05-21

0:34 calling manager about this week's supply of bread dough or mommy to come pick him up ASAP?

Smellvin - 2009-05-21

This just gave me the best idea ever: stupid employee insurance.

Camonk - 2009-05-21

You'd have to pay out CONSTANTLY. It's actually a really bad idea.

NewHeavenSalesman - 2009-05-21

japanese ghost subway is the worst subway

blackmetallic - 2009-05-21

The water opening the walk in door at 1:23 is amazing.....those walkin door handles are usually pretty stiff and hard to open.....wow

StanleyPain - 2009-05-21

I like how they get mops and buckets.

fatatty - 2009-05-21

I like how quickly those mops and buckets are left for dead in the murky depths.

Millard - 2009-05-21

If my manager did something like this (and I assume he's a manager because of the way he's dicking around while other people are sweeping and cleaning up) I would just walk out of the store and let him clean it up.

fluffy - 2009-05-21

I really hope the darkness of the water is due to dirt on a less-than-spectacularly-mopped freezer floor and not because of the other contents of the freezer.

Also I couldn't help but have Yakety Sax in my head when I watched it.

Chibisuke - 2009-05-21

Found this on another forum. Don't know how accurate it is:

"28 year sprinkler guy here.
To clear up some of the misconceptions:

1. If the building was required to have a fire sprinkler system, then ALL accessible parts of the building must have them.

2. Typically, in a freezer (or a cooler if the possibility of freezing exists), one would install what is called a "dry pendent" sprinkler, to avoid freezing of piping - but it's piped from the usual wet sprinkler system and works the same way.

3. Fire sprinklers are activated by heat. In the case of the cooler in question, the sprinkler would typically be rated for 155* F.
Smoke will NOT activate a fire sprinkler, unless it is installed without a fusible link (an "open" head) on a deluge or pre-action system that is activated via smoke detection.
Bet that Subway doesn't have such.

4. The water in any fire sprinkler system gets nasty, REAL nasty, fairly quickly once the system is online.
Stagnant water, you know. Sitting in black steel pipe.
Black water, smelly as hell, even contains something nasty called MIC (microbial influenced corrosion).
I've seen more than one plant evacuate when someone smelled sprinkler water and thought it a hazardous chemical - which it is, really.

Hope that clears things up some."

Dinkin Flicka - 2009-05-21

So people should run about as fast from sprinkler water as they should from the blazing inferno it's trying to stop. Upton Sinclair should have written on this.

RockBolt - 2009-05-21

Good job posting exactly what was already posted here

Stog - 2009-05-21

Oh God. Oh holy shit. Oh God.

I think I'm about to pop a lung from laughter here.

Frank Rizzo - 2009-05-22

I hurt from laughing, you think you've seen the funniest part and then something more amazing then before happens.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-05-22

Live Leak has finally lived up to its name!

Chizmurder - 2009-05-22

Ugh...

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-10-28

glenn - 2009-05-25

What's up with the shirtless guy wandering through at :40?

Mister Shady - 2009-08-23

Typical beaners.

andybrownie - 2010-03-19

Legitemently a "Live Leak"

metasonix - 2011-01-08

that was excellent. and the filthy water spewing out of the sprinkler was the icing (filthy black icing).
