Is this supposed to be funny? Because, if you've ever worked retail or anything like that, you'd hear this at least once a day. If anything, this is a super accurate portrayal of so many customers.

While it's true that this kind of thing happens in retail situations, it's extra sad when you're dealing with a multi-million dollar company / production and they pull shit like this with freelancers.

Which is why I get half up front, half on delivery, and I don't remove the watermarks until the checks clear.

Also customers at retail stores don't get away with it. Somehow it's easier to screw a graphic designer out of half his pay than screw McDonald's out of 50 cents on your Big Mac.

i think its is because big name companies have a standard?

everywhere you go, its pretty much the same. so its hard as a pack animal to complain when you know that everyone else is paying the same for a whopper.

but custom work like graphic designers, well its not a cookie cutter process so people might try to screw you more?

someone with more schooling please help me out here and cite some sciencey sounding test or something. thank you.

This is so typical, for every request-for-proposal sort of job with corporate vendors. I have been on both sides of the table, though, so it feels strange when you see your budget and get told to cut it even though you have a contract. So slimy.
