Well what do you know, Olbermann's right again.

splatterbabble - 2009-06-03

I don't think it'll work, but I'd like to see it attempted.

takewithfood - 2009-06-03

Compare Rachel Maddow's piece on Tiller's assassination with Olbermann's. Maddow was classy, poignant, thorough, and unbiased, while Olbermann focused almost exclusively on O'Reilly and made a big deal out of retiring a goofy voice.

As usual, I don't know how to rate this.

chumbucket - 2009-06-03

bigger question Keith, when are the FNC sponsors finally going to do the right thing and pull the plugs?
BUT
for shame on Olbie's automatic assumption that the shooter saw or read the Fox news items on Tiller. Come on Keith..reaching. lazy journalism

stars go for "pedofelier"

jangbones - 2009-06-03

Actually you are mistaken. Watch 1:16 through 2:30 again.

Rovin - 2009-06-03

Whether you agree with Olbermann here or not, I find this a very problematic video... I don't recall him ever pointing out factual counterpoints to O'Reilly's nonsense. Simply pointing out that, in terms of the late term abortions Tiller provided, the state of Kansas required consenting opinions of TWO DOCTORS as to the risk to life and health of the mother, infant, or both, is enough to defuse most of the O'Reilly nonsense.

Wouldn't have saying that gone a longer way toward making his "Fox News is a bunch of manipulative hatemongers" case for him?

phalsebob - 2009-06-03

I'd like to see that as well, but Tiller was acquitted of charges. In any event Fox spreads hate and stirs up the rednecks who watch it into a frenzy of stupid for which they take no responsibility. I think that is his point.

Rovin - 2009-06-03

Whether Fox spreads hate and stirs up rednecks, which they obviously do, that doesn't change the fact that, by not providing the simple fact of legality that shoots down his chosen target's claims and instead focusing on what basically comes down to a sort of high-handed nose tweaking, he becomes no better than O'Reilly as a commentator, in that he's not truly making a real case or argument but is leaning on saying what an already-existing viewer base wants to hear him say.

While O'Reilly is deplorable, as such, though we might AGREE with Olbermann, It doesn't have any value as information we might point others to. Again, it's just name calling and nose tweaking.

Maddow did far better.

voodoo_pork - 2009-06-03

I think the whole point of the video was to outline a new attitude towards Fox News. You can show reasonable evidence to any political flavor of crazy and they'll just ignore it, continuing to bark on the street corner to anyone who will listen.

Olbermann's not trying to convince die-hard Fox News watchers to stop watching, but rather to get reasonable people to finally, completely ignore the fucking insanity on that channel.

O'Reilly does deserve a nice cactus enema for this shit, though.

takewithfood - 2009-06-03

"Olbermann's not trying to convince die-hard Fox News watchers to stop watching, but rather to get reasonable people to finally, completely ignore the fucking insanity on that channel."

You have to be kidding me. His whole fucking job is about obsessively watching Fox News.

"IGNORE FOX NEWS! IGNORE THEM! ESPECIALLY O'REILLY! Also, here's everything that was on Fox News today. Especially O'Reilly! Now IGNORE THEM! ESPECIALLY O'REILLY! OH WHY WON'T YOU PEOPLE IGNORE THEM?" and at some point his face turns carbon monoxide pink.

With you all the way, Rovin.

Rovin - 2009-06-03

Thank you for being able to put into words what I might try to but would stupidly take me three times more words to say.

GlennFinito - 2009-06-03

Five stars for bluster, bluster, indignation, bluster, bluster.

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2009-06-03

This is really important shit.

Toenails - 2009-06-03

Fuck the abortion debate or the murder of Tiller...

Olbermann refusing to troll O'Reilly is perhaps the worst thing to come out of this whole mess. I'm just glad I can count on O'Reilly to not return the favor...

fermun - 2009-06-03

I enjoyed how that Fox News woman described late-term abortions as "Hitlerian."

Hooker - 2009-06-03

I got vivid Hard Copy flashbacks during the first minute of this video.

magnesium - 2009-06-09

If you're going to be an abortion doctor, you should first ensure that your last name doesn't lend itself easily to a catchy rhyme.
