Sorry bout that.

more like monologue...I prefer Winston Wolfs' dialogue with Vega and Winnfield

still, Carradine chews it up, so stars
R.I.P. Bill

Before this speech I hadn't considered what a conceded dick Superman is. Well I guess I did, but this is the best evidence of that.

Also Carradine should have gone out by the sword, not some boring old rope. RIP anyways.

Personally, I thought it revealed a lot more about Bill's character, and how he couldn't conceive of someone with as much power as Superman NOT being an arrogant ass that looks down on those weaker than him (in Superman's case, everybody).

Of course, the fact that he can be so persuasive and charming in his argument just further emphasizes Bill's charisma, which does indeed make it a very well-written and well-acted speech.

Goodnight, Bill. Goodnight, David.

Bah, classic Clark Kent was laughable and weak only for the sake of being as dissimilar to Superman as possible -- hardly a critique on the whole human race.

More recent takes on Clark Kent are that he's at least as "real" as Superman; the kid who grew up in Smallville, learned respect and patience from the Kents, and didn't have powers until adolescence is the "real" person. The Superman role just allows him to utilize his abilities while not turning Clark's life into a mess, i.e. pretty much how all superheroes operate. And these days, while Clark doesn't let on that he's got powers, neither does he conduct himself as a joke.

The best Clark / Superman was still the George Reeves version: his Clark was a likeable competent guy who wasn't given to displays of physicality, and his Superman was down-to-earth enough that his essential terrifying freakishness (a grown man in circus tights who can kill you by looking at you, breathing on you, dropping you from great heights, or throwing you into the sun) never really occurred to you.

StanleyPain - 2009-06-04

There is nothing Tarantino has done that is "finest" anything. BUT, I will give him Kill Bill, and yes this is a great scene.

theSnake - 2009-06-05

This movie was awful. It reminded me of a nerd jacking off into a sock.

Blaise - 2009-06-05

Better a sock than playing with ropes in a closet.

oogaBooga - 2009-06-05
