Awesome stuff. JAXA is the Japanese version of NASA, NHK is their version of PBS, except everyone with a TV has to give them money.

Has their been any footage yet over the moon landing sites?

Cena_mark - 2009-06-06

Even if footage of moon landing sites come through there will still be people denying it ever happened.

La Loco - 2009-06-06

Of course not. They never landed on the moon. And this is obviously some kid's CG demo reel.

baleen - 2009-06-06

Yes, there is plenty of footage of moon landing sites.
You are also free to shoot a laser at the array we put up there any time you want and it will bounce back.

The Mythbusters moon landing hoax episode made me feel very proud of humanity.

Reading the comment threads about it on the Mythbusters site took that pride right away again.

Still awesome.

I saw this on the Bad Astronomy blog at Discover Magazine.

Refer Fez's question is answered there.

This mission is over soon, and JAXA is going to deliberately crash the satellite into the moon - That's the video I want to see!

Reefer Fez - 2009-06-06

Thanks for the info!

Udderdude - 2009-06-06

I shat moonrocks.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-06-06

All the curves and bumps! I have high hopes that JAXA will provide a zen garden rake-bot to smooth it all out.

Camonk - 2009-06-06

Is science awesome?

Richard Dawkins's opinion of whether you should fuck off or not hinges on answering the question correctly.

Sound is broken.

It will always be playing Ducktales: the Moon Stage in my heart.

Helena Handbasket - 2009-06-06

That was quite peaceful

FUN FACT: This orbiter was named after Princess Kaguya from The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, considered to be the oldest folk tale in Japanese history. Either that, or it was named after the character from the Touhou Project games. However, they are technically one in the same, so I guess this thing was inadvertently named after a video game character.
