The preload image perfectly embodies everything I love about Kitchen Nightmares.

I'm kind of glad this show hardly ever has new episodes because damn does it make me lose my appetite.
I also feel sorry for anyone who is eating at a restaurant when Gordon Ramsay storms out of the kitchen because you know it can't be a good sign.
|
drcrypt - 2009-06-16
I don't understand how they get permission to film in these restaurants. Can anyone enlighten me?
|
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-06-16 People are going to lose their businesses and call Ramsay on the basis that many success stories come out of restaurants that are merely poorly run. Everyone has seen him save some operations and think he can help save theirs. Some have health code violations and don't have the brains God gave a can opener, however, as the preceding demonstrates.

SharoKham - 2009-06-16 Of course incompetent people being exploited for hilarity is one of BBBS's pet causes.

The worst would be a tie between this and the roach filled walls of the Indian restaurant. That still makes me shudder.

poopskin - 2009-06-16 Yeah that sounds right. The show "Throwdown with Bobby Flay" tricks people into thinking they're getting their own show/pilot on the Food Network or something similar, only to have Bobby Flay come out and try to best them in their own line of culinary expertise. Most of the time the people being tricked seem to be cool about it but sometimes they flip the fuck out. It's really entertaining.
|
fluffy - 2009-06-16 I had no idea there was anything redeeming about any show with Bobby Flay in it. I will have to start watching that.

It's Gordon Ramsey and Kitchen Nightmares, and the best tags we can come up with are "crap" and "rancid"?

twinkieafternoon - 2009-06-16
That guy must be the most fun person in the world to assault others with verbally. He would do most of the heavy lifting, but every now and again when he had to take a breath you could sneak forward and go, "Yeah, and the onion mountain thing...the fuck was that?!?"
It would be great
|
zerobackup - 2012-06-22 I imagine going out to a bar or something to hang out with Gordon Ramsay and he sees a dirty glass. As the waitress walks by he grabs a handful of her hair and screams into her, now upside down, face. "YOU FROTHING CUNT, WHY IS THERE A FUCKING FINGERPRINT ON THE INSIDE OF MY FUCKING GLASS?!?! I DIDN'T COME HERE TO TASTE YOUR BOYFRIEND'S ASSHOLE, I WANT A GODDAMN WHISKEY YOU SHITFINGERING TRAMP!!!"
It would be awkward going out to eat with Ramsay.
|
poopskin - 2009-06-16
they used have this segment on the local news called "Dirty Dining" when I lived in Wisconsin (i'm sure there's something similar on Portland news but I don't know) but I remember we were eating at some restaurant in Milwaukee and the guy who does the Dirty Dining segment came in and was doing a live segment WHILE WE WERE EATING THERE! We were like "oh shit" finished our beer and got the rest of our food to go. Watched the news that night and the place received an A+ and that's what the story was about, how GOOD the health code rating was. We heated that shit back up and ate it. It was really good. :)

Now imagine these shitty restaurants in turkey and other warm countries were old cooling systems are in use.

Squidmojo - 2009-06-16
I've never watched this show before. Are most of the restaurants this gag-inducing?
|
Hooker - 2009-06-16 I've only seen like three, but the others were just retardedly run and had crappy menus, but nothing was revolting.
|
|
twinkieafternoon - 2009-06-16 Everything leading up to the "fridge segment" is just foreplay as far as I'm concerned.
|
|
boner - 2009-06-16
The thing is, like 95% of the restaurants from this show have closed down anyway, which I guess is normal in that business. Lottery winners like to buy restaurants and then lose all their money in them.

Gordon Ramsay is the Max Hardcore of TV chefs.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-06-16
For every really horrifying instance of cleanliness standards on this show, there's at least four or five instances of places that are perfectly clean, just suffering from very bad marketing choices or weak menus. The most obvious one was the guy who was obsessed with coupons, and handed every customer a 30% off coupon upon walking into the door, and constantly pointed out the sales in the menu. There was another one that had chosen "Irish cuisine" as their theme, not really understanding that it wasn't exactly a selling point.
But yeah, the ones that have moldy food and bugs on the walls are more entertaining.

I wish the UK version was shown over here. Great clip though.

Plan B - 2009-06-16
I figured this would be the high point of the episode. I didn't figure on a near-brawl between the kitchen manager and one of the investors (his son-in-law), violently incompetent line cooks, and yet MORE filth in the kitchen. If this isn't the best episode in the series, I would dearly like to know what is.

Kingofthehobos - 2009-06-16
Ive seen this one.
The best thing is the "managers" last job was he ran a Mexican restaurant which went out of business. Better hire him to run our Mexican Restaurant! That is losing business...

Rafiki - 2009-06-17
Seriously, everyone needs to at least watch part 3 on Youtube for the table flipping between the owner's husband and then the roach infested kitchen. And not just even 2 or 3 roaches, but roaches EVERYWHERE. All over the clean plates and everything. Then the ending where the fat worthless kitchen manager nearly cries to Gordon about Gordon making him feel stupid.

Oddly enough, I find when his curses are NOT beeped, his rants seem a LOT less severe. How do you explain that?
|
B_Ko - 2011-02-28 I'm guessing it sort of calls out the profanity more when you blast a loud beeping sound for every expletive. Also the bleeps add a sense of mystery to his verbal onslaughts.
