Here you can just read my comment and understand this video: USA = Reason for shit in the world.

Or: Hurf durf imperialism

Tstyle - 2009-06-18

Simon, can you explain why choral music is always used when someone is trying to "wake [me] up" ?

Also, this (popular unrest in Iran) is a giant gift wrapped present for whoever would be US president right now.

afp3683 - 2009-06-18

I'm not going to cry for them.

The Townleybomb - 2009-06-17

If so, it's about time the CIA did something useful.

Tuan Jim - 2009-06-17

Fuck these people for supporting the fucking horrible arrest of Roxana Saberi. I guess they were too pussy to mention the torture, rape and murder of a Canadian-Iranian woman in an Iranian prison a few years back.

Also, the clip cuts off the CIA guy just as he's noting just how paranoid the Iranian regime is.

Also, what the fuck is with the Renaissance polyphony?

Dr Dim - 2009-06-17

You don't think she was a spy?

Squidmojo - 2009-06-18

Roxana Saberi wasn't murdered man.

Tuan Jim - 2009-06-18

You're dumb and can't read and you're not a squid, asshole.

sheikurbouti - 2009-06-18

Transparent propaganda and thus, evil.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-06-18

I never dabbled with espionage in Civ 4, but maybe I should give it a go.

craptacular - 2009-06-18

so is Moussawi more supportive of american interference in the country, or does the CIA just want a reason to press military action? what are they planning to gain ? i need gwynne dyer to shed light on this thing

Chet - 2009-06-18

"Perhaps this is what the regime is thinking."

????

godot - 2009-06-18

Why the violent repression now? Moussavi was Khomeini's premier during the execution of over 10k socialists and communists, so its not like the regime has much to fear from him.

I see blowback from the other US-sponsored "color revolutions", coupled with some anti-Iranian provocations possibly funded by the CIA, causing the current regime down to the lowest baton weilding thug to view all demonstrators as foreign-inspired subversives. It hardens their resolve.

Thus, that 0 million we're spending on destabilization efforts in Iran may be having counterproductive effects in terms of liberalizing the nation. Imagine what happens when Iran's police find a irrefutable funding chain from the US National Endowment for Democracy to some dissident groups: it could set back real reform for decades.

As to the video, I'll agree with anyone that the music is obtrusive and should go.

dorje - 2009-06-18

it's nsa sigint you should be fingering.

for a while emphasis has been on comm/econ & exposure.

you want to look at what ahmadinejad has 'over' khamenei.
clerics have a tendency to play all sides against power over time.

Mordant - 2009-06-18

All of my stars are for the roundhouse kick at 2:11

Also, is this video seriously trying to demonize America for helping Iranians get around government censorship and oppression?

fatatty - 2009-06-18

It wouldn't be the first CIA sponsored revolt. And many of those had color themes much like the Green happening now.

Even if the CIA helped fund dissident groups to help create the environment to make this happen, obviously the people are unhappy and want reforms. I don't think the CIA had to trick them into recognizing this.

godot - 2009-06-18

Unfortunately, the US and Iran have a history. The concerns and anger of the dissidents are real. Our meddling has given the regime a scapegoat, and an excuse for repression.

fatatty - 2009-06-18

Well lets hope the CIA hid their tracks well enough that the Mullahs can't play that card. They have been trying to no effect so far.

memedumpster - 2009-06-19

Canada did this, not the United States. Canada and its evil, but sexy, lover, Mexico.

I have no proof other than we can't find Iran on a map, they can, and they won't tell us where it is. They're also hiding Santa's Workshop and the Fortress of Solitude from us as well.

That guy - 2009-07-20

Iran: somebody else's "Land of Free"

This clips so undermines its own point that it has a fair chance at being black propaganda.
