Welp, I'm sold. I have no need for d20's at all in my life, but I want to buy this man's dice just to support his awesome salesmanship, passion, and sense of humor. In the hopper I said to myself "no way am I gonna watch ten minutes of a video about freakin' dice", but I did, and I watched the second ten minutes too.

I have dice made by this guy (Didn't know that's what they were, they just came in the original D&D box), and they really are better than normal polys. The hard angles really make them roll better, they're less likely to just keep rolling right off the table.
But man, make an unmodified 20 on a saving throw or die? Dude's DM is a jerk.

I was at GenCon for that year and talked to the man. Definitely an old school gem. It's a shame I spent most of my time at GenCon hung over, but I did at least get a chance to visit Mr. Zocchi.

That is very interesting, and I'm glad he's so enthusiastic about it.
But I don't think he's aware that gamers don't actually want dice that give a truly random outcome.
Basically, he hit the nail on the head when he remarked that the player will go to that one die he believes will give him a high roll. Hell, it was so pronounced that there were gamers who were barred from using their "dirty cheating" dice.
Frankly, if it was up to me, I'd spend more money on finding an oblong d20 that gave great rolls than just buying one or two of his quality dice.

Syd Midnight - 2009-07-10 D20 are really easy to shave, so you could get a pair of opaque ones and use one for saves and one for hits, until people catch on. Ahaha.

AgentOrange - 2009-07-14 Why the hell would you cheat at dnd? Also, those die that roll high, the bias corresponds to a low roll as well. Your die that throws 20's, will throw as many 1's.
