I will be the first to admit that this episode made me tear up.
Anyone who watched this show end to end is lying if they say they didn't do the same.

I never caught this show in anything more than bits and pieces and, as a result, had no idea what was going on. Also, i kinda got put off by all the people who would not stop raving to me about how intricate and complex it was.

I feel such a great relief I skipped this show, though I slap myself for being pathetic enough to watch battlestar galactica.

Only show I have ever watched like a crack addict.

so on this big space station there's like one switch that turns off all the lights and blows the place up and Bob Jumpsuit is the guy responsible for flipping that switch?

For the pale imitation with less plot and truckloads more stupid, tune in to DS-9.
If you were watching both shows as they aired, Paramount's shameless aping of B-5 was incredibly blatant.

5 stars for babylon-5 related defensivism. (probably not a word)

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-07-11 In defense of my defensivism, I'd just like to say the biggest reason I defend B-5 is because I'd wish more shows would adopt the model of:
1. Get a halfway decent head writer.
2. Have said writer come up with a coherent arc for the show to follow.
3. Let said writer make an actual effing ending for the series; even if you love a show to pieces, 5 years is an incredibly good run. Most decent series peak around season 3 or so.
Since B-5 gets compared to "Star Trek" a lot, I'd ask: Imagine if the above model had applied to the most horrid of the Trek franchise: Voyager. There was a show that needed a strong, linear plot with signs of movement in the characters, their goals, and changes along the way.
Not everyone likes JMS' show. But he has decent chops. By contrast, so many other potentially good shows (and this applies to non-sci-fi) have no destination in mind and let anyone who they fancy write an episode, resulting in a narrative that might as well be picked by manatees using word-covered balls.
