I'm glad to see(sea?, oh god, that's terrible, nevermind) that they're continuing this series. It might actually make me read the daunting Classics that I've avoided for years in preference of books about things that explode.
I say toss out the boring classics they make you read in school and go for the under-appreciated early science fiction and horror novels. William Hope Hodgson is a great place to start, especially if you like sea monsters and creepy shit.
