Not even this would convince my brother to stop listening to him.

And he thinks it makes him informed too...

Man Who Fights Like Woman - 2009-07-15

Stay classy, Glenn.

IrishWhiskey - 2009-07-15

He's a clown. And as much as I'd like to believe otherwise, I don't think its intentional.

And his point is so stupid its staggering. Massachusetts health care doesn't cover everyone, and so some people have to buy private insurance. That's so much worse than the alternative, where... um...

fatatty - 2009-07-15

What a horrible human being.

StanleyPain - 2009-07-15

Brief LJ about Glenn Beck fans.

When his latest book, Common Sense, came out (nauseatingly named after the Thomas Paine book), like most new releases from right wing political hacks, I had a lot of people looking for it at the store where I work. New releases are prominently displayed, but of course, a lot of people are too dumb to look for new releases there and end up having to ask where it is. It happens. Common Sense was interesting, though, in that it was on a total of FOUR displays: It was a New Release, it was also on the display for Current Political/Event type stuff, it was ALSO part of a book sale so it prominently displayed with those, and there were about 14 copies actually where they were supposed to be with the rest of his books, pretty easy to see even with just a cursory look into the political books.
Needless to say, people looking for his book had to walk through a gauntlet of four displays to get to me and ask where it was. One person even suggested he couldn't find it because we were attempting to hide it since Glenn Beck is so SUPAR SCARY, but of course I humiliated him something good by making sure he knew each and every place the book was.

Also, on his radio show, he recently made a big thing about saying his book was , when in fact, the retail price as it came to stores was more like , presumably in a weird effort to pressure stores to lower price on the book and thus lose their margin. Classy guy.

this watered-down alex jones needs a boot right in his smug multimillionaire muppet jaw

fuck these patriot poseur assholes and the conglomerates who grease their wheels to advance their agendas at the expense of the well-being of our republic

phalsebob - 2009-07-16

Canada has a health care lottery? I better ask my doctor about that next time I have a sore throat and see her for free the day after I make my appointment. Maybe I'll win a million dollars.

kingofthenothing - 2009-07-16

Well, there's real Canada and the Republican Cartoon World Version Of Canada. You can imagine which one Glenn is talking about.

Toenails - 2009-07-16

Not that kind of lottery.

He's talking about "The Lottery"

(Man the internet is fucking sweet. I'm going to have to go brush up on "A Modest Proposal" now)

Jesus... Maybe if he had actually tried to listen to what she was saying, he wouldn't sound like such a dipshit.

Then again...

Menudo con queso - 2009-07-16

This guy and his crew of goons are actively trying to kill me and 50 million of my uninsured buddies. I'm really beginning to wonder why we aren't returning the favor.

mashedtater - 2009-07-16

he's not trying to kill us honey, he just doesn't care whether we live or die.

kingarthur - 2009-07-16

Well, in that case....wait, I care if he lives or dies. Though only because I want him dead so, so bad...

Xenocide - 2009-07-16

Q: What would you do to fix health care?

A: (screeching sounds)

chumbucket - 2009-07-16

it was a pointless question since Beck is apparently convinced that it doesn't need fixing

IrishWhiskey - 2009-07-16

THAT IS A FILTHY LIE!
From his earliest days at CNN, Glenn Beck has stood strong for healthcare reform, as evidenced by this video:
http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=29097

Of course his idea of reform is that the staff at his expensive private hospital with a plasma TV in his private room should be required to act like they truly care about him. And they should give him more painkillers on demand, even as he's overdosing on painkillers. Because he at least deserves better care than soldiers get.

I'm not joking.

Riskbreaker - 2009-07-16

Well, the good thingi s that nobody listens to him. After all, his book is just the best selling book of these day....s

Oh shi-

afp3683 - 2009-07-16

This is the sound of a rich man fearing the loss of his comfort level. Not that he won't, but that doesn't seem to matter.

dead_cat - 2009-07-16

Well, Kathy, what Glenn Beck would do is screech like a monkey in heat. No, I don't know how that would fix healthcare either.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-07-16

The endgame of republican troll/attention whores.

Document - 2009-08-30

It's only the obscenely - and I mean OBSCENELY - rich that travel to America for healthcare. And by healthcare, I mean apartment-sized hospital room and 50 John Hopkins graduates hired to pop a boil on your arse healthcare. No poor folk are setting their sights on the US when they fall ill. In fact - according to my Canadian friends - it's the poverty-striken Americans that are flooding across the border with break-your-heart stories.

The quality of your medicine means shit all when it's too expensive to actually be used. Why is that such a difficult concept to grasp?

HP Lovesauce - 2009-09-07

Question for the Americans. Do you think the Glenn Becks and Ann Coulters 100% believe what they say or is it just the entrepreneurial spirit gone haywire? I suppose either way it still makes them bat shit crazy.

Canadians on the whole can be an admittedly subdued (see: boring) lot but it seems a lack of excitability at least provides the luxury of skepticism and objective discourse. I doubt this level of punditry could never happen up here.

Five stars for crazed shrieking.

APE_GOD - 2010-01-15

You need to redefine your parameters.

Glenn Beck and Coulter are two different phenomena with the same message.

Coulter, like Limbaugh and Maher are political performance artists who, while having personal agendas, calculate and maintain their public image strategically. They are hustlers who have shown that opinutainment is an open market in our world today.

Glenn Beck isn't like that. Glenn Beck is a guy who had a TV career who has recently gone insane. He is insane. He is not a hustler. He does not know what he is doing: he is simply having a protracted manic breakdown in a political climate that allows such a spectacle to be popular.

Does that answer your question?

Sivak - 2010-07-18

I have him screaming GET OFF MY PHONE as my ring tone.
