All stars for Ken

Video Toasters hold a special place in the anuses of every person in television in the early nineties.

Fucking things.

Make sure you take a minute to laugh at the transitions at 4:15 - 5:00.

baleen - 2009-07-17

I wanted one so bad.

spikestoyiu - 2009-07-24

Ditto, baleen. They sent me this demo for free and I must have watched it a thousand times, making sure my parents saw it a few times in the process.

Toenails - 2009-07-17

Ugh. This company was in my hometown. I even recognize the channel 13 news station.

Imagine every local commercial with those effects for a good four years.

Old_Zircon - 2009-07-17

A Video Toaster Amiga turnkey system has been in my technology want list since this video came out. It still is. What I would do if I had one of these.

Old_Zircon - 2009-07-17

I'd venture these are still the most cost-effective way to get a true analog switching/FX rig.

See, that requires having spare money, which requires getting a better job. Working on it.

Triggerbaby - 2009-07-17

Fun Fact: Babylon 5 began on the Video Toaster.

I know this because my juniour high school had a Video Toaster in the multi-media lab, and the multi-media teacher was very excited about the upcoming Babylon 5 television movie premier. He suggested all of us multi media students should all watch it.

I still remember the apologetic look on his face the day after.

Ponasty - 2009-07-17

We had an amiga running toaster in high school. we were doing all kinds of fun stuff with animation, rotoscoping etc.

STARWIPE!

Ponasty - 2009-07-17

Also i think the voiceoverguy here has multiple personalities.

"Is she in Kansas or what?"
"Where else?"

ShiftlessRastus - 2009-07-17

"The next moment... enter... Copernicus."
"Wasn't he Polish?"
"And, voila!"

What in the hell was that about? He's politely ignoring his vaguely racist split personality.

duck&cover - 2009-07-17

"Paradigmmm shiftttt. Yeahhh!" Coo, coo, baby, coo, coo.

Dicknuts - 2009-07-17

The guy(s) who created this program went to my high school.

balistic - 2009-07-17

Dana Carvey's brother worked on the Toaster, which is why Garth wears a Video Toaster t-shirt in Wayne's World.

fluffy - 2012-12-10

The character of Garth was also based on said brother.

FABIO - 2009-07-17

My college TV station was still using this into the mid '00s =(

Five stars for a company that would hire Ken Nordine to do their voice over.

MrBuddy - 2009-07-19

Did you notice in the credits Mr. Nordine also has a band, The Ken Nordine Groop? Apparently The NewTek Girl (Kiki Stockhammer) also has a band, a Star Trek: TOS themed punk band.
