I knew a guy who was involved in organizing a rave there in the late 90s. I'm pretty sure they got found out and shut down at the last minute before it happened, though.

Reminds me of an asylum in another Salem: Salem, Oregon (where One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest was filmed). Not only does it have a history of more than a century of housing the criminally insane (which it still does, in spite of the fact it's falling down), it also has a crematoria where thousands and thousands of patients who had died were cremated and their ashes are still in cans way down in the basement of the crumbling building. If any place on Earth is haunted that's got to be it.

They should had filmed the Silent Hill movie there. Oh well, the movie sucked anyway.

There's a massive, unvandalized mental hospital less than an hour from here - it's been used for filming several times, including a major film, and allegedly it's haunted to buggery.

The building is pretty old in places, even down to there being a now sealed Victorian bedlam in its basement, where the truly possessed and addled may still lurk.
