The only feelings you should be mixing about Top Gear are the feelings of "radical" and "awesome."

Vicious - 2011-03-27

I think "shut up Jeremy" is a reasonable feeling when watching Top Gear.

Tyrathca - 2009-08-06

The science stuff May's spouting the whole time is so him.
And it's so me too.
The music here is nearly bringing me to tears.
I am so jealous.
Many many stars to this.

Tyrathca - 2009-08-06

Turns out this isn't Top Gear but let's be honest, who gives a flying fuck?
Incredible.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-08-06

Two words about the music: post rock.

Tyrathca - 2009-08-06

I dunno about post rock. I do know it's terribly generic "feel stuff" music.
Works like a charm on me in this particular instance purely because of the subject matter.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-08-06

Apparently they used Hoppipola - Sigur Ros, An Ending - Brian Eno and Le Onde - Ludovico Einaudi. The first two are brilliant, the second one I've not heard before.

And for what it's worth, none of them seem to fit the clip.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-08-06

Ok, not like you actually asked what the music is, but hereby proving I have too much time on my hands:

If you know where the clip fits in the show, you've got your man ;)

RockBolt - 2009-08-06

They keep this same sort of music on a constant loop around the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center, to the exact same effect

Vicious - 2011-03-27

It's fucking ambient music, not post rock.

halon - 2009-08-06

Who the fuck doesn't like top gear?

glasseye - 2009-08-06

Too cool.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-08-06

Nice semi-quote at the end about world politics.

Konversekid - 2009-08-07

Funny that I said pretty much the same thing after taking ecstasy for the first time.

VoilaIntruder - 2009-08-07

From Wiki:

"The overview effect is a transcendental, euphoric feeling of universal connection experienced by astronauts during spaceflight, often while viewing the Earth from orbit, or from the lunar surface. Astronauts who have experienced this state often report that their consciousness has been profoundly, permanently altered towards feelings of peace, connectedness, and heightened awareness of humanity's place in the cosmos."

Some say he fell to earth from a mothership, others say he was reverse engineered by NASA, ladies and gentlemen, The Stig.

I see he's listening to his number station tapes as he rounds Crooner Corner, the U2 does indeed have a phenomenally wide turning circle...

kiint - 2009-08-06

lol @ number station tapes

FABIO - 2009-08-06

2 landing gears?

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-08-06

There's some sticks (pogos) on the ends of the wings that are put on after it lands and rests on one of the wingtips.

mouser - 2009-08-06

Plane lands, slows to a crawl on two gears and finishes the job using titanium skid plates on wing tips. The chaser car is there to bring them pogo sticks so the plane can taxi back.

It's a weight saving measure.

Kumquatxop - 2009-08-07

What a badass thing

Broose182 - 2009-08-08

The plane reminds of Spike's Swordfish from Cowboy Bebop.

jreid - 2009-08-08

Everything.

Gojira1000 - 2011-08-17

Always 5 for Captain Slow
