All stars for Tintin.

Millard - 2009-08-09

Spielberg's making a Tintin movie. Not sure how to feel about that one.

Merzbau - 2009-08-09

TERRIFIED that is how

dementomstie - 2009-08-09

Is it live action or animated? Live action=Terrified.

Bort - 2009-08-09

Spielberg, huh? Assuming he completes filming by about 1981, it'll be terrific.

Live Action, it'd seem...or was it CG?

I read an interview with him on the subject of the movie about 4 or so years ago, and the enthusiasm and love for the subject matter was just dripping off him, but at the same time...yeah, I can't help but be rather terrified, myself.

But yes, Tintin = Automatic 5 Stars.

Xenocide - 2009-08-09

Herge himself chose Spielberg to make the film before he died. He'd hated the previous attempts at live-action TinTin movies, but he adored Raiders of the Lost Ark, and decided Spielberg was the man to do his characters justice.

The two were going to meet to iron out the details when Herge suddenly died. That set things back by a couple of decades.

The fact that Spielberg chose such a strong arc to make the movie from is a good sign. Crossing my fingers.

baleen - 2009-08-09

Spielberg will do a great job, actually. That's actually the sort of thing he's made to do. Movies about the Holocaust? Not so much.

Aoi - 2009-08-09

And he doesn't have George Fucking Lucas as a co-collaborator on this one.

snothouse - 2009-08-10

It is slated to be CG, but is now on hold.

freedoom - 2009-08-09

I always wanted to see David the Gnome fight Tintin.

Aoi - 2009-08-09

It'd start out with a fight, but it'd end with them teaming up to take down an illegal logging ring.

Randroid - 2009-08-09

Pistaschgubbar och surkålsstuvning!

HankFinch - 2009-08-09

The image of the captain with the glass breaking has always stuck with me and I don't know why, but at least I know where I got it from now.

Xenocide - 2009-08-09

Five stars for Tin Tin, SEXTILLIONS OF SUFFERING STARS for Captain Haddock.

The Caffeine Kid - 2009-08-09

I didn't like this show as a child, and my older sister watched it every single Godforsaken time it was on. I always suspected that she didn't like it, either, but she pretended that she did just to torture me.

SharpHawk - 2009-08-09

God I loved this when I was a kid.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-08-09

It occurs to me that Flapjack is a fairly deliberate (and affectionate) parody of Tintin.

Knaaks - 2009-08-09

Oh Tintin, you get all the stars in the sky! Though I kinnda remember a different opening when I was a kid, with a dude yelling HERGE'S ADVENTURES OF TIIIIIINTIIIIIN! really loud.

snothouse - 2009-08-10

Loved the comics, and they pretty much nailed it.
