he was the best, and rocking some serious muscle...when he beats Konishiki its like watching a cannonball hit a hippo

AgentOrange - 2009-08-10

Yeah he really is built, his arms are enormous. A lot of his opponents seemed to be merely big, lacking the same muscle mass. Also, I really like sumo. Is it broadcast anywhere in the states?

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-08-10

Yeah, ESPN3, where the fuck are you? I want sumo and cricket on the cable box.

fredfrankel - 2009-08-10

sumo and cricket COMBINED

twinkieafternoon - 2009-08-10

It seems like he had the Muhammad Ali approach: When most of your opponents dwarf you in size, use technique and quickness, take a shot or two, and let their mistakes and lack of grace foil them.

Sumo Rope-a-dope, if you will.

teethsalad - 2009-08-10

you can check w/ your cable company and see if they carry "TV Japan" which is the NHK feed here in the states, but it ain't cheap at something like a month (tournaments are 15 days 6 times a year - jan, march, may, july, sept, nov.)

dish network has it too, and people on the sumotalk.com forums usually post them in a day or two

In practice Sumo looks like someone made ejecting unwanted houseguests a sport.

Sumo bouncers.

Lurchi - 2009-08-10

I'm guessing that is THE official record book.

The opening is like a Disney fairytale.

I like that this guy is clearly an athlete, both by build and coordination.
