Now, watch this again, with this comment in mind: in any scene where there is more than the most rudimentary or elementary action or complexity occuring, he is not effecting his 'convienently caught on film' visage or persona of steely cool, of wordly and experienced masterful calm; in every scene where there is any sense of danger or possible tumultuousness, his face is blank; his shoulders are slumped and the offcamera individual is the driving force in the situation; he is a passenger along for the ride.

He looks like an out of shape actor playing the part of a cop, quite badly, because he needs the money. I'd like to say he sometimes realises that he's out of his depth but self awareness doesn't really seem to be his best thing. Mostly I wonder if the other cops can get away with playing tricks on him.
